Cross-faction contact is awesome. The ability to actively converse with your enemies in-game without need of a third party system isn't revolutionary, but it's a pleasant surprise for the likes of people who spent their time in the MMORPG that will not be named. For most, it's a continuation of a good idea for folks who have played Star Wars Galaxies, Age of Conan, and mostly every other MMO that tries to be its own universe. For role-players, that presents many new, exciting opportunities. Guild or group rivalries can have dialogue between the bloody brawls and potential dismemberment or blaster scarring. Shady independent bounty hunters or smugglers get to see their services to the opposite faction and still get their credits for a job well done. Even the ever resourceful intelligence agents have the chance to actively gather information on their mark by sitting down and having a drink with the person they need to know every little detail about. This Reporter's question is this: Do you do cross-faction deals? Be you soldier, spy, civilian or force sensitive, do you do deals with those clearly marked as a potential enemy? Are you willing to, or are you against this kind of thing? Tell us in the comments!

Communication is key to resolving conflict. Without the proper use of communicative techniques, such as verbal pitch and tone, facial expressions, hand gestures, as well as the use of appropriate terminology, we have nothing left to resolve conflict with but non-orthodox methods. The result? Damaged egos, damaged reputations, and perhaps a few bruises and broken bones. Immerse yourself with this situation in Star Wars however, and you could end up with a lost limb, perhaps even a decapitation, all thanks to the nasty glowbats used by Jedi and Sith alike.
BioWare have decided to place restrictions on cross-faction communication in The Old Republic. As members of the two opposing factions, the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire, you will have to submit to face-to-face chatter if you wish to exchange verbal slander with an enemy. The same goes if you want to exchange friendlies. If you find yourself on a different planet or zone from another player of the opposite faction, you will be restricted from communicating with such players. Apparently, a number of issues were raised during beta testing where players would scold their enemies from a distance. BioWare took it upon themselves to place a massive cross-faction communicative restriction, placing a substantial hindrance on many roleplaying opportunities.
In today's Force Reflection, tell us how you're going to handle cross-faction communication. Have you discovered a loophole, allowing your character to communication with a member of the opposite faction? Whatever your thoughts on the matter, let us know in the comments section.
