The Old Republic Roleplay|Site Info

Tatooine, a mostly unremarkable planet located in the Outer Rim, was the location of hostilities traded between the Republic and the Empire. This planet is generally known for housing a few Exchange Cartel gangs and lots of sand. A small Imperial force was sent to inspect a base located in the Dune Sea region and found themselves surrounded by Republic forces. It is reported that the Republic troops attacked, and the small Imperial detachment was forced to evacuate the area. More Imperial forces, overseen by Darth Thyrus and his Black Star fleet, moved in as the distress signal was received. Fortifications were set up in the Jundland area in preparation for pursuit of the Republic troops that had attacked.

The next week saw various skirmishes and battles occur between both sides as the Empire formed a blockade to the east and south of the region around the Jundland area and its surrounding perimeter. This forced the Republic forces within a very small area, but this did not contain them entirely as they once again attacked in certain spots.

How many of you were aware of April Fools'? Were you subject to an April Fools' joke? Fans of The Old Republic who follow the game's news on the official website would have seen an update of a new game feature, dubbed the "Ship Droid Experience!" As much as it embarrasses me to say, I thought this was completely legit. I had my Reporters jump onto the news of this alleged new game feature, and the very next day we published our own coverage. I logged on the next day and saw some of the comments. "April Fools!" read a comment by one our members. Suffice to say, I slowly sunk lower into my chair and dropped my head in shame. However, I doubt I was walking alone on Naivety Street that day. Who else was fooled? Come one now, put your hands up! Help a brother out!

Despite this minor setback, April was an exciting month for players of The Old Republic and the members at SWTOR-RP. Why? Legacy! Game Update 1.2 went live, and we finally got a glimpse of what the Legacy System was all about. How many of you were relieved to discover that connecting your characters wasn't limited to family? Not only can you create your own dynasty, but you can also link your characters as allies and foes. Pure brilliance, I say.

The month of April also housed a number of other exciting updates here at SWTOR-RP. We continued with our Flashpoint and story progression in-character entries, bringing the in-game events to you in an exciting breaking news format. Some of the servers held some unique roleplaying events which we covered on our front page, and we saw the birth of a new column by our esteemed Reporter Norri. Read up on all of this plus more in our April edition of Month In Review

"Dear Elza,

I am presently involved with a warrior, and have been for the past three standard years. He’s wonderful and devoted. He left me alone about two months back to go work a job in the Outer Rim Territories. He holos daily or leaves me messages, never wavering. He professes how much he misses me, and I stare blankly at the images.

I came across a human sith, standing alone at the cantina on the fleet. Oh, this was quite a while ago. We chatted over drinks, found common interests, and on several occasions enjoyed each others company. Recently though, we have been spending more time together, since I now have the time. I’ve found that the few common interests we shared once have allowed us to blossom together. Words aren’t spoken between us in a lover’s way; it’s more of a "knowing.” The way he looks at me, I see it, and I know my eyes shine brightly when I look at him.

My relationship is content. There is nothing wrong. The warrior and I do not argue, or bicker, yet the relationship, at least for me, has grown…stale. He works, yet never progresses. As well, I work, but don’t bother to want to progress. This new Sith has created for me, a bubble in which only he and I exist. Our conversations last long into the night, and begin again with the morning, never failing. The feeling is intense, a bright fire burning, and an incessant need to add more fuel.

This is an Imperial News Network travel ban update.

The Rakghoul plague outbreak on the planet Tatooine has been contained. Imperial forces based in Mos Ila report that all known infestations have been eradicated. At this time the Ministry of Logistics has released the travel ban on Tatooine, but visitors are still urged to be cautious.

Due to the possibility of lingering infections, medical stations across the Empire will continue to stock the plague vaccine in the ongoing effort to eliminate the Rakghoul plague completley.

If you or anyone you know exhibit symptoms of the Rakghoul plague, it is your duty to help contain the outbreak. Report any infected to the nearest Imperial Military Outpost. Failure to comply is treason.

INN Report

As we see the wrapping up of the Rakghoul World Event on Tatooine, I thought it might be nice to discuss the joys of exploding. You probably know what I'm talking about. You're walking through the fleet and all of a sudden you see a huge gathering of people. Naturally, you walk up to see what's happening.

All of a sudden, chaos ensues.

Folks with yellow eyes briefly convulse and explode, spattering the nearby groups with the green, diseased smoke and killing themselves. Now, everyone in the group shows the first signs of infection. Now the cycle begins again.

So the questions for today's Force Reflection are: does this help or hinder RP? Was it fun the first time it happened? Do you think we'll see a resurgence when the next planet becomes infected?

Let us know what you think!

Last week's article on the current status of Balmorra drew a lot of ire from those outside the Galactic Republic. Imperial lackeys and Sith mind slaves alike expressed their displeasure and outrage at our 'propaganda' which was nothing more than individual citizen opinion and facts put forward by us.

Like it or not, Empire, Sobrik is going to be free and run by a democratically elected leader soon. After all, we have BlasTech's very own Amaare Margolis, Treasure Hunter Extraordinaire supporting the people of Balmorra. Not a government, but the people and their ideals!

This week's topic was one which needed attention. Throughout the history of galactic politics and colonization, the planet Tatooine has always been brought up for one reason oe another. Sometimes it was repopulated for swoop racing, other times by a group of criminals who wanted a safe haven from law and a good place to gamble; or big game hunters who wanted to hunt the elusive desert Krayt Dragon or the brutal Hulak Wraid.

But why in the name of the Republic would our government—or the Sith Empire—want to invest in this dustbowl? Why would Sith Lords, spies, Republic soldiers, and Jedi all run off to some backwater planet with two major settlements which have always been run down little dumps?

That's what Voices of the Republic asked earlier this weekend. Let's see what the galaxy has to say!

This is an Imperial News Network travel ban update.

The planet Tatooine has been the site of a major Rakghoul plague outbreak. Authorities believe the Rakghoul threat has spread to densely populated areas.

Do not land on Tatooine.

Furthermore, do not answer distress calls or other communications from the planet without official clearance. The Ministry of Logistics will advise when this travel ban has expired. Until then, remain vigilant, keep calm, and avoid Tatooine.

Quarantine teams have been dispatched to starports and major transportation hubs to help contain the plague. If you or anyone you know exhibit symptoms of the Rakghoul plague, it is your duty to help contain the outbreak. Report any infected to the nearest Imperial Military Outpost. Failure to comply is treason.

Attention citizens of the Republic. This is a CBNS emergency broadcast.

A rakghoul epidemic is spreading. The Interstellar Travel Council has placed a level 1 emergency alert for the planet Tatooine. Information is still coming in, though it is being reported that Tatooine has been infected with the rakghoul plague. All citizens who are currently on Tatooine are being advised to take precautionary measures.

Additionally, anyone not on Tatooine is urged to avoid the planet at all costs while governments and officials continue to monitor and examine the situation.

Reports indicate that that plague is also spreading to Tatooine's neighbouring systems. All citizens should take extreme caution.

Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops.

Kit Saren | CBNS Reporter

Sobrik has been liberated. Balmorra and their formerly exiled government has finally moved in to attempt to re-gain control and return the quality of life to their people. Formerly naive, the Balmorran hierarchy has been bloodied enough to finally become a mature, strong force which will only accept safety to the world which has seen a rough occupation, resistance, and final liberation since Republic military forces pulled out after the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant.

Always a strategic asset because of the manufacturing plants and the proximity to the Core Worlds. Galactic Republic support dropped over the years and then the Empire found themselves squelching a staunch resistance which never quite seemed to die, even with the deaths of leaders and brilliant tacticians. While the politics of each Balmorran citizen differed, the majority of them wished to simply get on with their lives. The resistance—and, later, the Galactic Republic's outright liberation of the planet—made many tired. It made many of them resent the Republic more for what they percieved as abandonment.

The Empire, however, proved a bad thing for Balmorran industry. Production was stifled under strict Imperial trade laws, companies began to pull out due to them and the general attitude which the Empire holds to worlds which disobey the local Governors who have free reign to administrate how they wish.

So it began to hurt. And it began to bleed. Citizens feel the most of the pain from both the resistance, oppression, and the economy's nosedive. Let's see what the people of the galaxy have to say about the state of things on Balmorra during the Imperial occupation.

The sands of Tatooine which glimmer and shine under the hopeful Twin Suns have been stained by violence and corruption. Terror rocks the streets of Anchorhead and its surrounding outposts as the likes of the Czerka Corporation, the Mandalorians, and the Twin Suns spread their chaos amongst the neutral inhabitants of Tatooine. Without the full backing and aid of the Galactic Republic, the citizens are left to fend for themselves. Though not all hope is lost as mercenaries and lone representatives of the galaxy's mega factions swoop in to restore a sense of peace.

Reports from Republic sources have revealed a Czerka-run project with a multi-billion dollar financial backing. Despite being abandoned decades ago, the project is subject to reclamation by Czerka, contrary to the intentions of local authorities, as well as the Republic and Sith Empire. Though Czerka may have the resources to run such an expensive project, the fact that they have refused to elaborate on the project and the reasons for their renewed interest has raised suspicion with the locals and media.
