Tactician. Genius. Oenophile. These are some of the words to describe the Grand Moff of the Sith Empire during the era of The Old Republic. The Empire has seen many leaders of its military, each with their own separate traits. However, Grand Moff Rycus Kilran is not only charismatic, but he is absolutely patriotic in every way. When it comes to the business of his beloved Empire, nothing stands in the way of his impeccable intellect. His façade depicts a man of confidence and experience. His endeavours in the Empire's military have earned him such accomplishments as the Hero of the Battle of Coruscant, and Pacifier of Togruta Uprising.
Rycus Kilran was born on Dromund Kaas into militaristic nobility. It didn't take long for him to show the Empire his worth in the Battle of Ord Ibanna upon his superior's death. Kilran seized control of the Imperial fleet and led his forces to victory. As the years passed, Kilran's reputation grew – his tactics and strategies unmatched by any other Imperial Officer. It was his abilities during the Sacking of Coruscant which soon after earned him the title of Grand Moff, as well as the nickname of "the Butcher of Coruscant."
His adventures as one of the most powerful men in the Imperial Military continues in your experience in The Old Republic. Will your character have the nerve to stand up to such an esteemed member of the Imperial Military?

Darth Jadus is both a prominent and enigmatic figure. Not much is yet known about him but his mysteriousness and elusiveness both speak volumes about his character. Unlike one of his contemporaries, Darth Malgus, Jadus has not been seen in any trailers or images, save only for a HoloNet entry on The Old Republic's official site. But perhaps the lack of spotlight on Jadus isn't such a bad thing. After all, his character is one swathed in secret and shadow.Jadus is presumed to have been born on the Sith capital of Dromund Kaas. There are no records of who he was prior to adopting the name of Jadus, if that isn't his given name in the first place, or who his master was. What is known is that Jadus is of human descent, that he has a seat on the Dark Council and that he rose to "prominence" during the Great Galactic War and, later, the Cold War that followed. It is also known, or at least hinted at, that Jadus at one point had a daughter who would be his only known apprentice. However, true to her father, information on the daughter is almost nonexistent. He is also one of the most restrained members of the Sith; an extremely stark contrast to Sith as we know them. It is not even known what fuels him – anger, hatred, rage – as any and all of his emotions are contained within his mysterious being.

After weeks of following the breadcrumbs and scouring planets, you've finally found him: the Sith Lord you've sworn to destroy. You have him cornered. No more running. Your eyes lock. Your lightsabers ignite. He taunts you, but you stand your ground. The time has come for him to atone for his crimes and...he just emoted pulling a moon from orbit and dropping it on your head. What?
The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some would consider to be unnatural, but that doesn't mean they should be overpowered. Unfortunately in many instances of Star Wars canon, the two aren't always exclusive. While the good folks at BioWare have given us a neat little list of what our characters are or aren't capable of, it would be pretty boring if we didn't try to spice that up at least a little bit. However, not all secrets of the Dark Side are suited to the typical roleplaying session.
Whether it's creating a wormhole tearing through time and space, or devouring an entire planet's life force, there's a great deal of potential for the Dark Side to be perceived as overpowered. So how do you balance that in your roleplay? Where do you draw the line? Let us know in the comments below!

The corrupting influence of the Dark Side is a staple of the Knights of the Old Republic series. As you betray and murder your way down the dark path, your character's appearance becomes increasingly corrupt. The eyes become amber, the skin pales and ages, and veins and burst blood vessels turn your character's face into Google Maps.
It comes as no surprise then that The Old Republic will feature a similar system, although the implementation may leave something to be desired. While everything is subject to change, and especially so in beta, there are some elements of the system that not everyone will agree with. Non-Force Sensitive classes such as the Smuggler and Bounty Hunter can be affected by this corruption as much as any Sith or Jedi. The corruption itself, while toggle-able, comes as an all-or-nothing feature in which once you've achieved a certain dark side rank, there's no picking and choosing to have "just the eyes" or "just the pale skin," even though many NPCs in the game display this diversity. This author in particular is a little miffed that, from his testing experience, it seems that all ( human) characters at Dark V may end up with the same eye color, vein patterns, and skin tone as each other, further limiting the customization in an already limited system.
So what about you? Are you happy with corruption? Are you planning to use it? What changes would you like to see, or do you think are necessary? Let us know in the comments!

For an Empire driven by a philosophy based on humanocentrism – placing humans above all other races – one of its most famous members in The Old Republic sure did have a soft spot for a female of a race usually seen as less than equal compared to the Empire's finest. Darth Malgus, Sith Lord and Commander of the Imperial Military, has been depicted in all three of BioWare's cinematic trailers for their upcoming Star Wars-themed MMO. Despite his success on the battlefield against the Republic's and Jedi Order's finest combatants, there is more to this character than meets the eye. Who was the romantic interest that caused a weakness in Darth Malgus that was almost exploited by a Jedi after the Sacking of Coruscant? What happened during his upbringing that gave way to his malevolent nature? And what about that face mask? All will be revealed in SWTOR-RP's focus on one of the more well known members of the Sith Empire; Darth Malgus.

Our personality traits and characteristics define us. Introverts and extroverts sit on opposite sides of the fence, as do those of a friendly and happy nature compared to others who draw on their anger and vindictiveness. Our focus, however, is on those who strive for lustful revenge and rage, as this week's theme at SWTOR-RP is all about the Sith. Anger, hate, passion – these are the things that drive members of the Sith. Their powers are fuelled by such emotions, with claims that their connection with the Force magnifies under those circumstances. But what is that really defines a Sith?
In The Old Republic, many players will be claiming allegiance with the Sith, working under the Emperor himself. Sith players will be choosing to cause havoc as either a Sith Warrior or Sith Inquisitor, with one class' focus on lightsaber combat, whilst the other draws on the Force to inflict pain upon their foes. However, just because a Sith can sprout lightning from their fingertips whilst donning a red lightsaber, it doesn't quite define them as as being a member of the dark-side-using group. In today's Force Reflection in the Sith-themed week, let us know what you think defines an individual as being a member of the Sith. Is it the emotion that they draw upon that makes one Sith? Do you believe that a red lightsaber blade is a clear indication of membership? Or is it something much more darker and deeper? Post your thoughts in the comments section.

When you think of the Empire, whether in The Old Republic or the original Star Wars Trilogy, you think of the Sith. They are the evil overlords that represent all that is evil in the galaxy. In TOR though the Sith are everywhere and are controlled by players. Does this make them any less fearsome? Are they any less deserving of fear and respect?
Just after leaving Korriban or Hutta, Imperial players will encounter the Black Talon, a transport ship that can provide them with express service to Dromund Kaas at the risk of increased danger. While onboard the players will be contacted by Grand Moff Rycus Kilran, a member of the Imperial Military. The soldiers on board the ship show Sith players great respect, but the Moff seems to be the opposite, bluntly telling the players that their ship will never reach the capital if they do not follow his orders.
How do you feel about Sith player-characters? Will your character bow to them, even if they are a member of the Imperial Military or Intelligence bureau? To kick off the Sith-themed week of Force Reflections, tell us what you think, and be sure to give warnings if you want to use more than vague spoilers about things that happen in-game.
