The Old Republic Roleplay|Site Info

On wartorn Alderaan, the Empire speaks through Moff Sarek who coordinates the efforts of House Thul. Until recently, House Thul has been weak and inefficient. Now, thanks to an unidentified Imperial individual, House Thul stands strong against House Organa and the Republic!

The road was not easy. Beset on all sides, the individual, codenamed Feral Thranta, fought not only House Organa, but one of Lord Jorad Thul's vassals, a Lord Cedarik Killesa. Feral Thranta defeated Killesa who surrendered his House unto House Thul.

Feral Thranta moved across Alderaan, combating Killiks and their joiners, Rist assassins and Ulgo usurpers. Taking steps to rescue House Panteer survivors from Ulgo assassins, their support added a legitimacy to House Thul's bid on the throne. Eventually, Feral Thranta struck at Bouris Ulgo himself, removing the usurper after a massive, earth-shattering battle.

Though the battle for Alderaan is far from over, House Thul is bolstered by the efforts of this mysterious Imperial. The Empire is a step closer to claiming Alderaan as its own.

This is an Imperial News Network travel ban update.

The planet Tatooine has been the site of a major Rakghoul plague outbreak. Authorities believe the Rakghoul threat has spread to densely populated areas.

Do not land on Tatooine.

Furthermore, do not answer distress calls or other communications from the planet without official clearance. The Ministry of Logistics will advise when this travel ban has expired. Until then, remain vigilant, keep calm, and avoid Tatooine.

Quarantine teams have been dispatched to starports and major transportation hubs to help contain the plague. If you or anyone you know exhibit symptoms of the Rakghoul plague, it is your duty to help contain the outbreak. Report any infected to the nearest Imperial Military Outpost. Failure to comply is treason.

No other wild animal is as vital to status in Imperial society than the Sleen. Imperial families both Sith and military have used the web-footed Sleen as their hunting animals and domesticated "Imps' Best Friend" for centuries.

"Without one," one anonymous Imperial Navy Colonel mentioned, "you are worthless slag. Might as well be a slave amongst the elite of Kaas if you do not own one of the fine pedigree of Sleen which breeders have provided for over one hundred years."

Originally, they were the guard animals for the Sith lords of Dromund Kaas, but as the population of Kaas City and the Lord's estates became more dense, the Sleen was phased out for the ever more adaptable Akk dog due to their inability to operate in closed quarters.

Biologically, the Sleen is the fastest animal on the Sith home world, and much like its residents it is slippery and adept at evading predators through the combined effort of their slick bodies and dumb luck. Hunting mostly for insects, the Sleen heads to the most moist areas of Dromund Kaas to fill its belly, often laying in mud for hours at a time until a group of Gorcik flies move close to the water to procreate on the water's surface. It's other source of sustenance are the eggs of other lizards on Dromund Kaas; even the eggs of other Sleen.

In the days of this Cold War, sport hunting has become the favored past time of trillions of civilians across the galaxy. It is a game that one rarely is able to dabble in, the rewards being both high risk and high investment. Life and death are a natural part of the sport hunter's life, and they always start somewhere.

In recent years, Imperial hunters, thrill seekers, and young Sith have come into testing their mettle on the bug-like mammals known as Yozusk. Originally called "rock wardens" by the first Sith settlers on Dromund Kaas after their rock-like hide and appearance, the Yozusk have gained a cult following as the go-to animal for beginner sport hunters who want to make sure they're ready for the big game such as Wraids or Gundarks.

Hardly pushovers, the Yozusk have two sets of very long arms, the elbows and fingers tipped with thin, razor sharp digging tools which lend to how the strangely docile rock wardens of Dromund Kaas use their shovel-like hands to claw deep underground for small reptilian prey and deposits of bugs.
Salin (( Yess. more cattiness in these IC articles between the two factions of the game, please. :3 ))

Community sites are driven to success by one major contributing factor. You have three guesses. No, it is not hiring a group of Jawas to run the site. And no, it is not by employing an army of Gungan soldiers as forum moderators—though that could be fun, right? Did you say "member support and growth?" Ding ding ding! We have a winner folks!

SWTOR-RP has been blessed with a supportive community and ever-growing member numbers. Each day, players from The Old Republic seek a virtual home away from home in this hub for roleplayers, connecting with others to form new relationships, create new stories, and to make their roleplaying and gaming experience as pleasant and adventurous as possible.

Without the support from our members, we'd flutter into a pointless non-existence. And to express our gratitude, members are randomly chosen to participate in the member-alternative to the Guild and Staff Spotlight feature: the SWTOR-RP Member Spotlight! To qualify, just be sure to remain active on the site, and watch your private message box.

This time around, Tiali takes to the stage with stories of her roleplaying endeavours as an information broker in The Old Republic. What does it take to buy and sell information on other player characters? Let's find out!

Even a cursory perusal of the guild recruitment threads in any of the SWTOR-RP server forums reveals that there are a few guild concepts that crop up again and again: the (Republic or Imperial) military or intelligence unit; the crime syndicate; the shadowy Sith cabal; the noble Jedi circle.

Obviously, that these concepts are so popular indicates there's a market for them. They're interesting in their own right, and it's always possible to put an original spin on a well-travelled concept. On the other hand, someone looking for a more distinctive guild might struggle to find a good match among all the conceptually-similar ones.

If you're part of a guild that embraces one of these concepts, how does your guild try to stand out from the crowd -- or do you just focus on building a strong guild community, figuring that differentiation will take care of itself?  If you're part of a guild which doesn't embrace one of these concepts, how did your guild arrive at that concept, and are you at all concerned you're catering to a niche audience? And if you're still looking for a guild, how might a guild's concept weigh into your eventual choice? Let us know in the comments!

Star Wars: The Old Republic has hit its early access stage. We're only five days from launch, and players are beginning to creep onto the different roleplaying servers to call them their new virtual home away from home. Three years of waiting has never paid off so well, right? As we continue to sail through the game during early access, we begin to familiarise ourselves with the planets and their environments. Each planet has its own feel, design, and texture. Furthermore, each planet has some form of structure, whether it be a thriving metropolis, a Temple hidden in the woods, or a barren pit surrounded by waste.

Imperial characters have many places to call home. However, which planet or structure they call home is totally dependant on the character's lifestyle and story. Dromund Kaas offers solitude to members of the Sith Empire as the centre of all things Imperial. Nar Shaddaa could be a criminal's homestead, whilst Korriban offers a warm and dusty feel if that's what floats your boat. During Empire week here at SWTOR-RP, we've been focusing on some of the issues surrounding Imperial characters. We've made it clear that Sith and Imperials are seen separately, despite them marching under the same banner. And as we separate the two parties, we'd like to focus on which planet your Imperial character considers to be their true home in The Old Republic. Let us know where your characters will be housed and why in the comments section.

This is a special week for The Darker Side of Life. Since the NDA was removed, I've asked you to give your impressions of just how good The Old Republic is for roleplay. It's a topic we've dreaded and feared for two years now and we finally have our answers. Over the last weekend, BioWare opened the floodgates and allowed everyone that had registered for testing into one final beta weekend. I hope that you all got plenty of game time in this holiday weekend, as you'll need it because we're diving right into the discussion.

In the past weekend everyone got a chance to see a very close approximation of what TOR will be like on its December 20th launch date. While TOR will undoubtedly see patches and bug fixes between now and then, almost all of the actual content is in-game for players to see and try out. We got some nice surprises, like sitting in chairs, and some not so nice ones as well. In the DSoL thread I asked you to give feedback so we could get a sample of the community's opinion.

Now that we have your answers, we'll be taking a look inside The Old Republic as it stands now and evaluating just how RP friendly it is. TOR has a lot of features you seemed to like for RP, but we'll discuss the ones that have been requested as well as their feasibility. For many of you reading this, you're preparing to spend what could be years playing TOR, so it's very possible that this may be our most important issue yet.

Now you might be asking yourself why it is that where you roleplay would be a hot enough topic for The Darker Side of Life. Every Wednesday we dig in to the most controversial topics in the RP community, and this one fits the bill even if it may not seem like it. To clarify, when I say public RP, I mean in an open place that other players can access normally as part of the open game world. By private, I mean closed instances where the owner can control access.

This is also the first issue after the NDA was dropped, so instead of the normal joke pictures, I'll be showing some in-game examples from The Old Republic. I encourage you to show yours as well in the comments section as part of the discussion. Every game has RP hotspots in the open world – Mos Eisley in Star Wars Galaxies or Darnassus in World of Warcraft. The Old Republic will have some as well undoubtedly, and we're going to figure out where they will be.

So the real issue this week is your preference between RPing out in the open, or in a private place that you have some measure of control over. In TOR, we will not have housing like Everquest 2 or Lord of the Rings Online. There will still be plenty of instances and player ships to go to though, but even if going to a private area gets you away from the morons, is it the best thing for the community? Read on and we'll take a look at what you had to say in the DSoL thread and find out.

In this week's Friday Update, BioWare has a special treat for everyone wanting to RP a loyal soldier in the Sith Empire. In the video, we're treated to the armor and ability progression of the Agent and it's two advanced classes: Operative and Sniper. The Imperial Agent is one of the two non-Sith Imperial classes in The Old Republic, and the only one without Mandalorian fanboys. It's good to see some love for them. Did I mention sexy Imperial uniforms?

Operative seems like a varied support class. In the video, besides the cover and shooting, you would expect we also see a medical droid reviving a fallen companion, some other grenades, and dirty tricks like knives, knives, and more knives! Backstabbing people has never been more stylish. If you're looking for a James Bond crossed with MacGyver and Jack the Ripper, this is the one for you. Keep reading to find out more and see the video!
