Tatooine, a mostly unremarkable planet located in the Outer Rim, was the location of hostilities traded between the Republic and the Empire. This planet is generally known for housing a few Exchange Cartel gangs and lots of sand. A small Imperial force was sent to inspect a base located in the Dune Sea region and found themselves surrounded by Republic forces. It is reported that the Republic troops attacked, and the small Imperial detachment was forced to evacuate the area. More Imperial forces, overseen by Darth Thyrus and his Black Star fleet, moved in as the distress signal was received. Fortifications were set up in the Jundland area in preparation for pursuit of the Republic troops that had attacked.
The next week saw various skirmishes and battles occur between both sides as the Empire formed a blockade to the east and south of the region around the Jundland area and its surrounding perimeter. This forced the Republic forces within a very small area, but this did not contain them entirely as they once again attacked in certain spots.

The Galactic Republic's jewel of reconstruction efforts is no longer solely under their pitiful grasp of chaos and inefficiency. Their soldiers are failing and their resolve is weakening due to their bloated, foul idea of making Taris a world worth "living" on. Nothing on this planet is worth saving and everything is worth destroying. Every citizen of the Sith Empire knew this from the day it was razed, and historians would have hoped that the destruction would save the effort so that our strength could be used elsewhere, such as a second sacking of Coruscant. While the foolish former Republic Governor Saresh sought to rebuild the world, the most eminent Darth Gravus has the Sith Empire's best interests in mind as he carries out the Dark Council's wishes to occupy and destroy the presence of the weakened Galactic Republic.

Hate it, love it, or mildly distrust it, the Galactic Republic has a few things undeniably right. Equal rights to all species, free travel in Republic hyperspace lanes, and the support of its citizens and soldiers are all paramount ideals which the Republic and its leaders try to hold dear in these trying times of the Empire's bristling coat and showing of teeth. Freedom of speech has always been something of a " hot topic" in Republic space, as planets like Alderaan believe in full freedom, never giving way in one's voice to placate the elected government. A world like Onderon, however, would be firmly rooted in respecting the monarchy, those who speak out against the leadership becoming imprisoned or covertly killed much like any world in the Sith Empire. While one could dwell for years on the difference in politics throughout the galaxy, the best opinion on the topic is not of an author or an educated specialist in xenopolitics and anthropology from some hoighty-toighty university. The opinion that matters is from the citizen. Of any world and any background. The opinion that matters is yours! Let's see what the HoloNet had to say!

Hello again everyone. It's time for another Guild Spotlight! This month I sat down with Lord Adraas' Hydian Expedition Outfit (HEO) and their leader Ringo Orlan. The HEO is a semi-independent Republic organization that does the Republic's dirty work while allowing it to officially have deniability. It almost sounds like Mission: Impossible's IMF to me.
Republic RP is suffering a disadvantage of numbers recently. Every server has seen shrinking populations as the newness of The Old Republic has worn off, and other big MMO titles are launching. The Republic has always been the victim of a faction imbalance, so we've been trying to highlight them recently to help turn that around. If you are interested in a Guild Spotlight of your own, you can contact myself of Ganden to officially request one. For now though, read on to see what Ringo has to say about the Hydian Expedition Outfit!

Politics is always a hot-button topic. Some people become more ornery than a Reek in mating season while others hold fast to the stance of not caring until they're in shackles or being beaten by a vicious overlord. While the team at Republic HoloNet News discourages those with political opinions to resort to violence or to dissent, sometimes the only thing which encourages the bureaucratic process along is a big event like the Treaty of Coruscant or a violent rebellion like the one taking place on Corellia. Last week, Voices asked you, our favorite sentient, to voice your opinions on the current administration of your government. It didn't matter if you're from the Empire, Republic, or an independent system. Voices wanted to know. Let's see what you had to say!

Members of SWTOR-RP come in many shapes and sizes, and no, I'm not making reference to physicality. Our members comprise of casual users who log in from time to time; forum-dwellers whose main activity is lurking about and posting on the forums; creative-critters who create wiki articles and journal and story entries; and finally we have the lurker. The latter group can be compared to a night owl: they browse the forums and articles on the front page, though they hardly ever make themselves known.
One such individual who falls into the "lurker" category is Sorrik. As a Bounty Hunter on the roleplaying server Lord Ieldis and a member of SWTOR-RP, Sorrik is looking to learn the ways of RP by finding like-minded players and possibly a guild to join. However, if your vocabulary consists only of words such as GTFO, LMFAO, and n00b, look no further. Your kind is not wanted here. You're either too young to understand the concepts of RP and probably don't know what I mean when I say, "You are what you eat," or you just never hit puberty and still think that the Easter Bunny actually lays its eggs. For the rest of you (and I hope by that I mean all of you), continue reading as we get to know Sorrik in this Member Spotlight.

In this week's Voices, there is a mixed bag of responses from you, the concerned galactic citizen! Our past four issues have dealt with some of the ideals which keep the Galactic Republic afloat: equality, openness of information, and the importance of liberty to an oppressed and tired people. To kick off our fifth publication of Voices of the Republic, let us reflect on the words sent back and forth by users in our fourth publication, Aliens, before we converse on this week's topic about the trials and tribulations of the freedom of Hyperspace lanes. HoloNet users of two vastly different ideologies had it out on our forum, as well as one very opinionated Chiss who saw it ample opportunity to plug the official and non official stance of the Chiss Ascendency. In the end, it seemed that all non-humans were well-respected in the Galactic Republic and the xenophobic tendencies in the Sith Empire was an agreed-upon fault.

The occupation of Balmorra has officially ended. Through the combined efforts of the Balmorran government and the army of the Galactic Republic, all Imperial presence has been removed through blunt force directly to the Sith Empire's pride. The plan that finally shook the shackles from the wrist of every Balmorran citizen was put into motion months prior to this day, the combined effort of the Galactic Republic leader of forces on the planet, Commander Madine, and two resistance leaders known as Beke Talrott and Colonel Marric, the latter being the most decorated officer in the Balmorran military. With the resources from Commander Madine, Beke Talrott contacted the head of the Balmorran military, Colonel Marric. At first it seemed as if Marric held loyalties to the Empire due to their treatment of him and the well known fact that sympathizers held higher positions and often were elected to public office to serve under the newly placed Imperial Governor known as Darth Lachris.

The term "alien" applies to us all. On some planet in some sector of our great, big, diverse galaxy, someone will consider us an outsider to their species for one reason or another. Whether it's on the wide streets of Thousand Thousand or the corridors and balconies of the breathtaking city of Coruscant, there is going to be some goon missing a few teeth you thinks you're worse than him because you're an "alien."
To many it's one of the most offensive terms out there, specifically for those of us who have experienced prejudice from a human-dominated galaxy. While the Galactic Republic has less issues with this than the Sith Empire, people still face adversity no matter what planet they come from. A Corellian may be looked down upon for being from a predominantly blue collar world, whereas a poor Alderaani may be seen higher because of them margin of wealth—even if it's not true.
While it's truly regrettable, hopes are high for the galaxy due to the flow of responses involving the "alien" topic. Let's see what you beautiful, diverse people of the universe had to say!

The news of the Rakghoul plague is finally setting in. Over a dozen worlds have reported cases and the Republic Containment Bureau is being slowly stretched to its limits. For many of us who sit in our homes and drink our tea, it seems like it's a universe away. How could something so lethal touch us? It's a big question, and one that never really has an answer. Truth be told, the most recent inflow of statements and comments about
the Rakghoul plague outbreak has overwhelmed every major news
publication. Yesterday, Galactic Action News imbedded
a reporter in an RCB containment unit on Tatooine. The footage of this
action was streamed, live, from their HoloNet site. Within minutes it
was overwhelmed by traffic and the entire net-site is still down as of
this afternoon.
