An Imperial assault team composed by Darth Malgus himself commandeered a Republic ship this evening. This ship contained some "very specific cargo,” according to our INN Sources. As to what exactly the cargo was, however, the unnamed sources refused to specify. "The assault team acted in accordance to their orders,” Moff Phennir said in a statement to INN. "As to further missions? I’ve no comment on the matter.”
Regardless of the lack of comment, the assault team’s mysterious lack of presence after the victorious capture of the supposedly innocuous Republic vessel has left some room for the imagination.
"Further victory surely awaits us!” a Dromund Kaas citizen replied when asked about the news. As for his prediction, we await further report from Moff Phennir regarding the assault team’s return.

How many of you were aware of April Fools'? Were you subject to an April Fools' joke? Fans of The Old Republic who follow the game's news on the official website would have seen an update of a new game feature, dubbed the " Ship Droid Experience!" As much as it embarrasses me to say, I thought this was completely legit. I had my Reporters jump onto the news of this alleged new game feature, and the very next day we published our own coverage. I logged on the next day and saw some of the comments. " April Fools!" read a comment by one our members. Suffice to say, I slowly sunk lower into my chair and dropped my head in shame. However, I doubt I was walking alone on Naivety Street that day. Who else was fooled? Come one now, put your hands up! Help a brother out!
Despite this minor setback, April was an exciting month for players of The Old Republic and the members at SWTOR-RP. Why? Legacy! Game Update 1.2 went live, and we finally got a glimpse of what the Legacy System was all about. How many of you were relieved to discover that connecting your characters wasn't limited to family? Not only can you create your own dynasty, but you can also link your characters as allies and foes. Pure brilliance, I say.
The month of April also housed a number of other exciting updates here at SWTOR-RP. We continued with our Flashpoint and story progression in-character entries, bringing the in-game events to you in an exciting breaking news format. Some of the servers held some unique roleplaying events which we covered on our front page, and we saw the birth of a new column by our esteemed Reporter Norri. Read up on all of this plus more in our April edition of Month In Review.

So I think we can all agree that Darth Malgus is one of the more impressive Darths we've seen since Darth Vader. Anyone who has watched the trailers, read the book Deceived by Paul S. Kemp, and generally been able to play any of the Flashpoints on the Empire side could probably agree he's very imposing, if not downright scary. Well, now you (yes YOU!) can have a Darth Malgus of your very own! Sideshow Collectibles is holding a contest between now and May 11, 2012 for a life-sized figure of Darth Malgus (valued at nearly $6,000 USD). All you have to do is go to their contest site and fill out a form with your name, address, phone number and email. (NOTE: Make sure the e-mail you use is the same one that is registered to your Star Wars The Old Republic account!) At the end of the contest, a winner will be drawn randomly and notified by e-mail no later than May 14th, 2012. Now for the bad news. This contest is only open to United States residents (includes District of Columbia) who are at least 18 years of age and registered users of www.swtor.com. So here is the contest link again. Good luck and may the Force be with you!

Moments ago, a team of Republic heroes were dispatched to reclaim the Republic Warship Allusis. Reports indicate that a group of rogue Mandalorians under the clan name Varad stole the Allusis whilst it was docked at the Fondor shipyards for refits.
Clan Varad used the vessel to raid Outer Rim systems, defenceless against the destructive capabilities of the Allusis. Evidence is scattered of shattered and broken worlds at the hands of the rogue Mandalorian group.
Satele Shan, Grand Master of the Jedi Order, is said to have led an assault fleet to allow the Republic strike team to board the vessel. However, it is now known that the Sith Empire have sent a team of their own to take the vessel for themselves.
The fate of the Allusis is currently unknown. Republic officials have refused to comment on the status of the vessel and the Republic strike team.
Upon returning to Coruscant, Grand Master Shan briefly addressed the public. "Allusis was a great Jedi who sacrificed himself at the Battle of Bothawui. The Republic honours his memory, but the Mandalorians are disgracing it."
Grand Master Shan refused to comment further.

On March 1st 2012, The Old Republic officially launched in Australia. A new roleplaying server— Gav Daragon—was created, along with another PvE and PvP server. To celebrate the regional expansion of BioWare's and EA's largest ever online project, an official Australian community launch event was held in Sydney. And who other than me, your Australian Editor-in-chief at SWTOR-RP, should attend the event to receive one-on-one time with EA's special guest, Gabe Amatangelo— The Old Republic's Principal Lead Flashpoint, Operations, and PvP Designer?
In our time together, we discussed a number of topics ranging from roleplaying features, PvP, Flashpoints, and Warzones. I also tried my best to find out some exclusive information about Game Update 1.2 and the upcoming Legacy System, but as always, BioWare are very good at remaining tight-lipped about their upcoming features. The good news? We only have to wait one week for all the goodies that will accompany Game Update 1.2.
Earlier in the day, our friends at TOROZ also exchanged banter with Gabe. Be sure to head on over to TOROZ to view their video interview. David Holloway asked some great questions about PvP, and in turn received some great answers from Gabe. But in the meantime, continue below to view SWTOR-RP's very own interview with Gabe Amatangelo.

Crisis in the Outer Rim! The Advozse Hegemony is on the warpath, attacking and devastating several worlds in the far regions. Reports from the region are still coming in, but it seems that the Advozse were using a Republic super-weapon as the spearhead of their attacks. The Advozse are a humanoid race, known for their pale skin, and large central horn, as well as xenophobic tendencies. Republic envoys in the past have failed to engage them in any meaningful negotiations.
Now they've managed to steal a weapon from our military and take it on a planet crushing rampage before they were finally stopped. The Senate is demanding answers from the military, but it's not yet clear how this came to pass. How did they manage to get a hold of a battlestation that wasn't even supposed to exist? The people are demanding answers. It's also unclear just how the station was eventually destroyed. Both governments have claimed responsibility for the Advozse's demise.
For now, the crisis is over. The Advozse's Supreme Warleader has offered his life, and their forces are withdrawing from the worlds that they tried to conquer. While the damage caused in this short time was terrible, the Senate has already dispatched aid ships to the affected worlds to help them rebuild. Only time will tell just how bad the damage truly is; body counts from this massive asteroid hurling weapon are still being tallied.
My fellow citizens, it's time we demand accountability from our military and our leaders. Someone must be held responsible for this mistake. We made this mistake before, trusting our safety to the Jedi, now we put too much faith in technological marvels. The strength and safety of the Republic come from our men and women at arms; not the Force, and not giant battlestations. Remember that as you head to the polls later this year for the elections, because if the Empire gets its way, you won't be able to soon.

Author: Kit Saren,  BioWare,  Black Talon,  Brentaal Star,  CBNS Report,  EA,  Electronic Arts,  Flashpoint,  Grand Moff Kilran,  IC Report,  Jedi Order,  LucasArts,  role-play,  Roleplay,  RP,  Satele Shan,  Star Wars,  Star Wars The Old Republic,  SWTOR,  SWTOR-RP,  The Black Talon,  The Old Republic,  TOR

Earlier today, A Republic warship named Brentaal Star escaped a skirmish in Imperial Space. It is unknown what ignited the space battle, though reports indicate that the Thranta-class starship contained valuable information. Upon leaving Imperial Space, the Brentaal Star was intercepted by another Imperial Vessel, a Gage-class destroyer called the Black Talon. Yet again, another space battle erupted, and we can only conclude that it was in the Empire's interest to either capture or destroy the Republic starship and its valuable contents.
Satele Shan, Grand Master of the Jedi Order, commanded a fleet of 16 Republic destroyers to intercept the Brentaal Star to ensure the safety of its crew and cargo from the Empire's grasp. Sources have revealed that the Grand Master made contact with the Black Talon in order to uphold the peace treaty between the two factions. However, the Empire was quick to shut down the Jedi's peaceful efforts. And who would be responsible for such oppressive behavior by ordering the attack on the Brentaal Star? The Butcher of Coruscant: Grand Moff Kilran.
Upon returning to Republic space, the crew of the Brentaal Star refused to comment on the result of the battle, but we did learn that among the casualties were Jedi Yadira Ban and Commander Ghulil. What the valuable contents consisted of and its fate are unknown, though Grand Master Shan commented on the battle. "The peace between the Republic and Empire is fragile enough already." She further stated, "Incidents like this are happening across the galaxy, and only because we let them."
What this means for the peace between the Republic and Empire remains a mystery, but CBNS will continue to provide you with the latest breaking news updates.

What is a threat that is enough to have both the Republic and the Empire worried about their fates? An uprising of droids threatens to bring both sides to destruction as news is received of this rebellion. On a remote moon, these droids have developed a technology that could end life as organics know it. Groups from both sides of the Republic and the Empire have been dispatched with the directive of ending this threat before the droids accomplish their goal. Perhaps HK-47 had some influence upon these droids with the words about "meatbags." It's a classic story of artificial life created to serve beings of flesh struggling against their makers. Such parallels can be found in other areas of fiction such as the struggle of the Cylons in the popular television series, Battlestar Galactica.

A lot of information about The Old Republic has come out over the past week at New York Comic-Con. DarthHater has done an excellent job of compiling the various panels for us to pour over. Here at SWTOR-RP, we've taken the liberty of boiling it down to the crucial issues and topics that affect a roleplayer. There is quite a list to talk about so settle in. Let us know what you think at the end!
First up, The Old Republic now has social hubs. The Republic and Imperial fleets will serve as part social hub, part Flashpoint launch area, and part Collector's Edition VIP area. There will also be all sorts of vendors available on the stations. I guess it could be compared to Mos Eisley in Star Wars Galaxies, or Goldshire in World of Warcraft, just with all sorts of additional goodies. Read on, there's plenty more to go!

Welcome to another edition of SWTOR-RP's Weekly Dev Tracker Report. It seems that whilst beta testing continues, we'll never see the end of questions and demands of the developers in relation to beta invites. However, we're going to skip over all that mumbo-jumbo and focus on the good stuff. Over the previous week, there have been a few goodies about in-game mechanics, as well as some news for roleplayers. Followers of our site will have seen a previous article covering the announcement of an PvP-RP server. You'll find some information about that below. Additionally, there is also some information about force pushing enemies in-game and how the environment can add some flavour to the ability, as well as details about male companions, flashpoints, and BioWare's timeline entries. Check out all the noteworthy developer responses below.
