Everybody loves the community Q&A, especially since the BioWare staff actually takes their time to poke us in the brain with their delicious tidbits of vague information that lead all Old Republic fans to salivate at the future of SWTOR. This week's community Q&A covers questions ranging from the future of the Rakghoul plague events to the planned Game Update 1.3. Character Transfers are a hot button issue which Senior Producer Dallas Dickinson shed a little light on: low population servers will have specific character transfers to or from another server to help the population be more evenly balanced. Damion Schubert, Principal Lead Systems Designer, also teases that achievements and codex entry collection will serve a purpose in the future. The biggest tasteful tease of terrific information is that there will be new species this year! A true fascinating jump considering how it's usually a feature fully priced expansion packs throw out, but Daniel Erickson, the Lead Game Designer, can be quoted with saying "... you can expect the roster of playable species to expand... this year."
With this booming piece of information, let's see what you—the people—have to say! Throw out what you think in the comments section!

Another week, another round of question and answer by the BioWare staff! As with the previous few editions of the Community Q&A, this week's centers around the immenent Game Update 1.2, which according to some of the talk coming out of PAX East this weekend may be coming out as soon as next week. While there's not too much in the way of roleplaying interest to talk about from this week's edition, I do have one clarification I personally got from David Bass yesterday. Legacy Unlocks will require a minimum level and either credits, or a special other unlock. For instance, you can unlock a race for all classes by obtaining a minimum legacy level and a character of that race at level 50 or a fee of 1-2 million credits. Unfortunately, ship unlocks don't have a special way to earn them; you'll be paying 500,000 credits for a mailbox and a whopping 5 Million credits for a shipboard GTN.
Anyways, onto the real meat. PvP gear will have its stats re-worked to favor expertise over traditional stats. This is to discourage people from using them in PvE content. The current commendations will be depreciated, so spend them now. In the future you'll be able to stack up to 2,000 Warzone Commendations. Reverse Engineering is also getting an overhaul and a tooltip to tell you the chances of getting a schematic, if any. You'll also get some character titles if you've been levelling on the Test Server. That's really it for this week, so tell us what you think now in the comments section!

With Game Update 1.2 coming out, many of us have had our curiosity satiated. We have learned about the legacy system and the tweaks to game play. Many changes will benefit the role-playing community, giving us more creative license. The ability to play races in different classes across different factions, and the new emotes that will be given to us, there is much to look forward too. Chiss Jedi, Miraluka Sith, the possibilities are huge for the player to create unique and interesting stories. But on lower level, there are new emotes such as that much desired 'meditate', and others that will set you and your characters apart from the pack. But roleplay isn't the only thing that will change; it will be faster and easier to traverse to and around planets. The ability to use speeders in Orbital Space Stations and Space Ports will help you move more quickly to your destination. Anti-aliasing, customizable UI, bug fixes, and much more—read up on the patch notes and get excited! As always, the community still has questions on the future, what to look forward to and what to despair about. Not much on the RP spectrum was asked this week; the one of note (and sadness) is that the idea of a barber shop, Damion Schubert: "Are there plans?" - the answer is yes. "Anytime soon" -- the answer
is no. It's not that we don't want to do it, it's just a little
further down in the priority queue, and so I don't want everyone to
have any expectations that are unrealistic in terms of when it will get
into your hands."
Bummer. But at least other questions have been answered, clearing up some confusing areas about the legacy system. Notably, the question of unlocking races was answered. If you unlock the Chiss species at level 50 and delete that character, you are still able to create Chiss on either side now that it has been unlocked on that server for your account. Breaking News: Still no chat bubbles. Read the Patch notes here, and the community Q&A for march 16th here!

Alignment,  BioWare,  Friends List,  GTN,  Ships,  Author: GigasFist,  Community Q&A,  EA,  Electronic Arts,  Game Update 1.2,  Guild Summit,  LucasArts,  Neutral,  Q&A,  role-play,  Roleplay,  RP,  Star Wars,  Star Wars The Old Republic,  SWTOR,  SWTOR-RP,  The Old Republic,  TOR
This week’s Community Q&A is shorter than what we are used to seeing, but the upcoming Guild Summit is promising lots of new information and new ideas. Even if it is shorter, there are still plenty of good questions being answered by Damion Schubert and the BioWare team. GU (Game Update) 1.2 is still a hot topic and they are taking every chance they can to plug the different tweaks and additions that will be found in it. Like last week, a question about ships arose. While it may act as our home base for movement around the galaxy, it still lacks a few things, like a mail box and a GTN. Apparently these features are going to be added "as soon as Game Update 1.2” through the Legacy System. Damion Schubert posted for us to "Watch for more information about Legacy unlocks coming in Game Update 1.2 - we should be dropping that Real Soon Now.” For now, we can only wait to see if the mysterious Legacy System will actually pan out, or be a bust as many see it currently. No doubt we have all done it, checked the name one hundred times, and contacted friends of friends… But that person still does not exist when they are offline when trying to be added to your friends list. Being called a ‘bug’ and ‘somewhat sporadic,’ this annoying flaw is apparently in the pipe to being fixed for 1.2. Though this Reporter finds it hard to believe such a bug would elude the developers for so long. Here’s to hoping it gets fixed soon. Some of us just aren’t red or blue on that little scale, or we just make varying decisions that never mount up to being light or dark. Maybe we just want our alignment to reflect our character’s alignment. The only problem is that there are no relics or items for neutral characters. Though it is ‘in the pipe’ like so many other projects, no ETA is given for the release of information on neutral items. Still no chat bubbles or playable Wookies. Someday my readers, someday. The Q&A in its entirety can be read here.

A new Community Q&A is up! So I know we talk a lot about chat bubbles, and our founder, Tziena, even has a recording of BioWare developers promising they would be in by launch. Obviously that didn't happen. What it seems like is that UI customization took priority, and that will be done in time for Game Update 1.2 in March. Once the UI team is free, they'll start working on chat bubbles; hopefully they can fix the issues that caused them to be pulled quickly. Depending on the issues and how serious they are, we could see chat bubbles added within weeks, or maybe a few months at most I'm sure. Either way they're coming to The Old Republic. Rejoice!
Also of importance is the mention of a hood toggle coming after Game Update 1.2. The next major update would be Game Update 1.3 which might be 2-3 months later. Either way, it's coming. They seem to be talking about headgear a lot. Companion headgear toggles are currently in the works. No ETA for them, but just good to know it's in the works, right?
Mordecia and all our other gambling entrepreneurs are going to be exciting that /roll has already been added to internal testing builds. BioWare internal testing is said to be 2-3 patches ahead of live, so that means it's likely still a few weeks off at least, but I think it's safe to say /roll will be available soon for RP events. Hopefully this will help spur people to play Sabaac more! Read on and I'll talk about the rest of what was said.
