Members of SWTOR-RP come in many shapes and sizes, and no, I'm not making reference to physicality. Our members comprise of casual users who log in from time to time; forum-dwellers whose main activity is lurking about and posting on the forums; creative-critters who create wiki articles and journal and story entries; and finally we have the lurker. The latter group can be compared to a night owl: they browse the forums and articles on the front page, though they hardly ever make themselves known.
One such individual who falls into the "lurker" category is Sorrik. As a Bounty Hunter on the roleplaying server Lord Ieldis and a member of SWTOR-RP, Sorrik is looking to learn the ways of RP by finding like-minded players and possibly a guild to join. However, if your vocabulary consists only of words such as GTFO, LMFAO, and n00b, look no further. Your kind is not wanted here. You're either too young to understand the concepts of RP and probably don't know what I mean when I say, "You are what you eat," or you just never hit puberty and still think that the Easter Bunny actually lays its eggs. For the rest of you (and I hope by that I mean all of you), continue reading as we get to know Sorrik in this Member Spotlight.

The SWTOR-RP Wiki houses countless articles created by our members. People's creative abilities are put to the test in order to convey the ideas brewing in their minds of their characters, organisations, guilds, lore, and starships. Each month, the team at SWTOR-RP peruses through the wiki entries in order to select an article of the month. Last month, The Chroma Incident basked in the spotlight. However, for the month of May, the team has selected an article which possibly holds the most detail seen so far in a SWTOR-RP Wiki entry: The Surely.
Created by SWTOR-RP member KyoTe, The Surely is a starship which was manufactured at a retired shipyard prior to the events dubbed as the Rise of Revan. A light freighter with a maximum speed of 1120 km/h, The Surely has been heavily modified both inside and out.
The Wiki entry for The Surely consists of extensive detail of the starship. You'll find information about its hyperdrive rating, power plant, avionics,a breakdown of each section its interior, plus much more. KyoTe has clearly dedicated a tremendous amount of time and effort to muster up such a detailed article.
Head on over to the entry page for The Surely and check it out for yourself.

How many of you were aware of April Fools'? Were you subject to an April Fools' joke? Fans of The Old Republic who follow the game's news on the official website would have seen an update of a new game feature, dubbed the " Ship Droid Experience!" As much as it embarrasses me to say, I thought this was completely legit. I had my Reporters jump onto the news of this alleged new game feature, and the very next day we published our own coverage. I logged on the next day and saw some of the comments. " April Fools!" read a comment by one our members. Suffice to say, I slowly sunk lower into my chair and dropped my head in shame. However, I doubt I was walking alone on Naivety Street that day. Who else was fooled? Come one now, put your hands up! Help a brother out!
Despite this minor setback, April was an exciting month for players of The Old Republic and the members at SWTOR-RP. Why? Legacy! Game Update 1.2 went live, and we finally got a glimpse of what the Legacy System was all about. How many of you were relieved to discover that connecting your characters wasn't limited to family? Not only can you create your own dynasty, but you can also link your characters as allies and foes. Pure brilliance, I say.
The month of April also housed a number of other exciting updates here at SWTOR-RP. We continued with our Flashpoint and story progression in-character entries, bringing the in-game events to you in an exciting breaking news format. Some of the servers held some unique roleplaying events which we covered on our front page, and we saw the birth of a new column by our esteemed Reporter Norri. Read up on all of this plus more in our April edition of Month In Review.

Brian Rucker, known to many as OddjobXL and Mandash, has passed away at age 48.
He spent majority of his time in Star Wars Galaxies on the Starsider server where he was part of the guild Holowood Galactic Studios: a guild which any avid roleplayer would have knowledge. He later moved here to SWTOR-RP where he enjoyed a short stint in The Old Republic.
Brian was considered a friend to SWTOR-RP. He promoted the site and often conversed with the team. Those who have followed him here from SWG, as well as the new friends he made in his short time here will miss him dearly.
These were his closing comments on this site.
"I'm outta here. At least for a while. This isn't the kind of MMO I'm really looking for and I knew that going in. But it was a fun ride for a while and it was good seeing so many familiar faces around."

The answer: Gratulator.
As one of the many Guides at SWTOR-RP, Gratulator submitted himself to the mandatory interrogation in order to complete his Staff Spotlight. I tried to crack him, but he has more willpower than I had anticipated. Continue reading to a get a glimpse of what this man from Europe is all about!

Citizens of the Galactic Republic. This is an emergency broadcast update.
The Rakghoul plague continues to spread. More and more individuals are becoming infected by this epidemic which started about four days ago with reports of the plague showing up across the towns and outposts of Tatooine.
The Health and Safety Council are yet to address the public with an explanation of how the outbreak occurred.
In the meantime, the Council have made recommendations on how to deal with those infected by the plague. A representative made the following announcement earlier today:
"Currently, there is no cure for the Rakghoul plague. It is with great sorrow that we've determined that anyone who shows complete mutation as a result of the plague should be subject to lethal force. Military forces are assisting us in this matter.
Our number one goal is to prevent a further outbreak of the disease. It is for this reason that we've made this determination. We will continue working towards a solution to the matter, as well as discovering the reason for the outbreak."
Republic military representatives have been stationed in major cities and outposts across infected areas. If you have fears of an outbreak in your area, contact them immediately.
Stay tuned for further updates.

Attention citizens of the Republic. This is a CBNS emergency broadcast.
A rakghoul epidemic is spreading. The Interstellar Travel Council has placed a level 1 emergency alert for the planet Tatooine. Information is still coming in, though it is being reported that Tatooine has been infected with the rakghoul plague. All citizens who are currently on Tatooine are being advised to take precautionary measures.
Additionally, anyone not on Tatooine is urged to avoid the planet at all costs while governments and officials continue to monitor and examine the situation.
Reports indicate that that plague is also spreading to Tatooine's neighbouring systems. All citizens should take extreme caution.
Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops.

The sands of Tatooine which glimmer and shine under the hopeful Twin Suns have been stained by violence and corruption. Terror rocks the streets of Anchorhead and its surrounding outposts as the likes of the Czerka Corporation, the Mandalorians, and the Twin Suns spread their chaos amongst the neutral inhabitants of Tatooine. Without the full backing and aid of the Galactic Republic, the citizens are left to fend for themselves. Though not all hope is lost as mercenaries and lone representatives of the galaxy's mega factions swoop in to restore a sense of peace.
Reports from Republic sources have revealed a Czerka-run project with a multi-billion dollar financial backing. Despite being abandoned decades ago, the project is subject to reclamation by Czerka, contrary to the intentions of local authorities, as well as the Republic and Sith Empire. Though Czerka may have the resources to run such an expensive project, the fact that they have refused to elaborate on the project and the reasons for their renewed interest has raised suspicion with the locals and media.

Are you familiar with the term "fanon?" As a roleplayer and probable Star Wars fanatic, you should have sound knowledge of the word and its alternatives. For the lesser informed—with absolutely no emphasis on the descriptive nature of the term "lesser"—fanon is a form of canon. Where canon is formed and derives from original sources, in the case of Star Wars being George Lucas and his authors and companies, fanon is the creation of lore from the fans.
With any form of canon, controversy soon follows. And as for controversy in roleplay, what better way to discuss it than in one of Sebaya's editions of The Darker Side of Life? For an insight into canon and its alternatives, be sure to check out Canon and You.
Rewinding back to fanon, there are ways in which you can make it work. A prime example of a successful attempt at fan-created canon is represented on the SWTOR-RP Wiki, and has been selected as this month's featured article.
Each month, the team at SWTOR-RP will be selecting an entry from our wiki to be displayed on the front page, as well as earning its own article, just like this one. If you've created an entry and it meets the wiki's guidelines, you may see your work splayed under the spotlight.
This month, the fanon-based entry tells the story of an incident in space during the era of The Old Republic (who would of guessed?). Following the Treaty of Coruscant, a mass passenger transport and luxury liner was destroyed. The event was dubbed as The Chroma Incident.
Be sure to view this month's featured article which can be found on our wiki's main page.

Welcome to another edition of the SWTOR-RP Month In Review, where we sit back beneath the twin suns of Tatooine and reflect upon the articles that have passed through the front page. The month of March holds significant meaning to a number of staff—including myself—as we were fortunate enough to receive one-on-one time with a number of key developers from BioWare.
Gabe Amatangelo visited Sydney, Australia, for the official launch of The Old Republic in the Oceanic region. Additionally, Sebaya ventured off to the first ever Guild Summit in Austin, Texas. More on that later.
Continue reading below as we review some of the work of our Reporters during the month of March. We'll revisit some of the in-character articles, interviews, game updates, and some of the topics covered by our columnists.
