I was there on Coruscant when the rubble began to fall. I watched the skies fill with clouds of smoke and the shapes of Imperial starships. It wasn't a pretty sight, and soon following the event dubbed as the Sacking of Coruscant, a peace treaty was signed between the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire. As days and months passed, the Republic began their planet-wide rejuvination efforts, but it wasn't without its fair share of obstacles. Riots began to fill the streets, and we soon saw the birth of a criminal organisation whose sole mission was to take advantage of the weak. The organisation I speak of is the Black Sun.
Led by an unknown gangster, the Black Sun has swarmed the lower-city neighbourhoods of Coruscant. Innocent beings are robbed and assaulted on a day-to-day basis, and when all their belongings have been taken from them, they are shot dead and left to rot on the streets. Their criminal behaviour extends to spice and weapon trafficking, and their business has begun stretching beyond the upper atmosphere of Coruscant. Reports indicate that the Black Sun is now selling illicit items to gangsters and Hutts on many different star systems.
The Justicar Brigade and Republic officials have attempted to intervene on the Black Sun's dealings, however their influence has stretched out far beyond the Brigade's reach and abilities. Will these criminals ever be stopped? Readers of this Central Broadcasting News Service, head the warnings in this column and stay clear of the lower-cities of Coruscant. You just never know when members of the Black Sun will pop around the corner with you as their next victim.

Tactician. Genius. Oenophile. These are some of the words to describe the Grand Moff of the Sith Empire during the era of The Old Republic. The Empire has seen many leaders of its military, each with their own separate traits. However, Grand Moff Rycus Kilran is not only charismatic, but he is absolutely patriotic in every way. When it comes to the business of his beloved Empire, nothing stands in the way of his impeccable intellect. His façade depicts a man of confidence and experience. His endeavours in the Empire's military have earned him such accomplishments as the Hero of the Battle of Coruscant, and Pacifier of Togruta Uprising.
Rycus Kilran was born on Dromund Kaas into militaristic nobility. It didn't take long for him to show the Empire his worth in the Battle of Ord Ibanna upon his superior's death. Kilran seized control of the Imperial fleet and led his forces to victory. As the years passed, Kilran's reputation grew – his tactics and strategies unmatched by any other Imperial Officer. It was his abilities during the Sacking of Coruscant which soon after earned him the title of Grand Moff, as well as the nickname of "the Butcher of Coruscant."
His adventures as one of the most powerful men in the Imperial Military continues in your experience in The Old Republic. Will your character have the nerve to stand up to such an esteemed member of the Imperial Military?

For a species who's society and culture is perceived as one of beauty, Twi'leks have been torn apart by their own ideals and ways of life. Yes, Twi'leks are a beautiful species. Many of their kind assume the roles of nobility and entertainers across the known galaxy. However, their society is torn by a battle of the sexes, with Ryloth's male-dominant culture causing a rift between themselves and their female counterparts who have taken it upon themselves to pursue freedom from a slave-ridden lifestyle. This pursuit of liberty has taken a turn for the worse with large numbers of members from different Twi'lek communities across Ryloth having to relocate onto a brand new world. Led by a former Twi'lek Matriarch, Twi'lek pilgrims underwent a long two-decade search for a new place to call home. After many encounters with Twi'leks who opposed the pilgrims' views, they have finally relocated from Ryloth to the Jedi-occupied world of Tython. The relocation has been viewed as coincidence, but the former Matriarch believes it to be an act of destiny. However, has destiny finally brought peace to the Twi'lek pilgrims in their Kalikori Village on Tython? I will reveal the details and the persona behind the pilgrim movement in this Central Broadcasting News Service report.

The path of the Jedi is a difficult and treacherous one. It is filled with obstacles based on the rules of philosophy and morals, as well as requiring immense discipline. The Jedi Code must be followed at all times, lightsaber combat techniques must be at a competent level, and a Jedi must be able to connect mind, body and soul through a number of different and intricate meditative techniques. Not only does a Jedi have to pass a number of trials to excel within the Jedi Order, but they must do it selflessly. They must also resist the constant temptation of the dark side of the Force. A Jedi will make many decisions throughout their selfless career, and the utmost care must be taken to ensure a Jedi doesn't slip through the cracks to plunder to the fiery depths of the dark side.
A Jedi isn't without help, however. Neither are roleplayers who wish to take the reigns of a character based on such immense and deep lore. The Jedi Path, written by Daniel Wallace, is a book written from the perspective of some of the most formidable Jedi throughout history. The book is filled with comments by Luke Skywalker, Yoda, Count Dooku, Qui-Gon Jinn, Darth Sidious, and more. The book is written to address a Jedi in training. It is a great resources for any Jedi roleplayer in training as well. If you're struggling with certain aspects of Jedi lore, or if you wish to further your knowledge on probably the most renowned aspect of Star Wars in its entirety, be sure to check out The Jedi Path.
With SWTOR-RP hosting a Jedi-themed Force Reflection week, we thought it appropriate to educate our members on all things Jedi, bringing you the best bits from the book written by Daniel Wallace. In today's edition of The Jedi Path: Teachings of the Jedi Order, we'll be discussing the Jedi Code, the history of the Order itself, as well as some of the duties and trials faced by a Jedi Initiate in training to become a Jedi Padawan. Be sure to stay tuned at SWTOR-RP for further knowledge of the Jedi, taken straight from The Jedi Path. But for now, lets kick off Part I.

Jedi guilds for The Old Republic share similar characteristics. They offer solace to the Jedi affected by the Sacking of Coruscant, a sense of camaraderie, as well as a peaceful home to find serenity, acquire knowledge, and to learn the ways of the force. This style of roleplay may not be for everyone, but those seeking to experience the life of a Jedi in BioWare's upcoming MMO, you'll probably want to check out such guilds as The Enclave of Tython. Protected by the Enclave Defence Force, the guild offers roleplayers a place for those seeking an academy-style life, as well as opportunities to take the fight to the enemy. For more information, read on in SWTOR-RP's Guild Spotlight on The Enclave of Tython.

Where there is life, there is death. Unfortunately, our lives have to come to an end at some point. Whether it'll be from old age, or some other cause which we won't go into, the lights will eventually turn off. Sad to say, we see numerous people pass away for a number of different reasons. Whether its someone close to us, or a mere acquaintance, death always strikes a blow. In Star Wars, it is no different. Many character have passed on into the Force, many of which have had a significant impact on the story, as well as other characters. Would Anakin Skywalker have turned into Darth Vader had his mother and Padmé not died? We will never know.
Our characters in The Old Republic are creations of our imaginations, as is their history, personalities, and everything else that makes them what they are. Seeming as though it isn't possible to run around in BioWare's virtual world as an infant, our characters have most likely been through thick and thin to get to where they are, from the day they were born, to the days following the events of the Sacking of Coruscant. It is probably safe to say that our characters have seen many people die, some of those most likely friends. What we'd like to know in today's Force Reflection is whether your character has lost anybody, and what impacts their death had on your character. Haven't thought about it before? Well here's your chance to further develop your character. Post your answers in the comments section.

After much anticipation, PAX East 2011 has kicked off with a bang. BioWare have set up their booths for The Old Republic and have hit the spot with their first epic reveal. Speculation of the first announcement ran at dangerously high levels, however they can all be considered quashed as BioWare have released a new trailer using all in-game footage. Named "Fate of the Galaxy," the trailer conveys the message that war between the Republic and Sith Empire is imminent, despite the peace treaty that followed the Sacking of Coruscant. The unbiased in-game footage depicts scenes from both sides of the story with epic battles and characters of all classes. We get to see scenes of Tatooine, Hoth, the lands of Tython, and airpeeders racing through the skylanes of Coruscant. We even witness the brutality of the Sith as an innocent Jawa is batted away in a strike worthy of a home run. The trailer also contains what appears to be player vs player battles, as members of the Republic and the Empire go head to head with mighty explosions and the clashing of lightsabers. The video has been posted below for your convenience. Enjoy!

The Sacking of Coruscant wasn't the first time the Sith managed to bring war to the heart of the Republic. Almost a thousand years before the Treaty of Coruscant would be put in place, the Sith Empire under the command of Naga Sadow would accomplish this feat in a brutal and destructive campaign that would become to be known as the great Hyperspace War. It's this war that is the subject of Master Gnost-Dural latest time-line entry and this Fridays Update. The Great Hyperspace War is one of the most important moments in galactic history, setting up events that would be felt for generations to come, and it's all down to a pair of force sensitive twins known as Gav and Jori Daragon. During a time of great expansion for the Republic, the blazing of new hyperspace lanes was a lucrative business for those who could survive the perils it entailed. Finding themselves in dire straits the Daragon twins turned to this life, hoping to make their riches and turn their life around. This left eventually only got them more in trouble, and soon found themselves with a price on their heads from a merchant lord who after using one of their trails found himself less one drone ship. With a price on their head, the siblings stole back their impounded ship and attempted to flee into space. Entering a random set of co-ordinates into the navicomp the pair made a leap into the unknown, whether it was luck or their undeveloped force sensitivity guiding the the pair survived, but what they found would lead to a galactic war that'll lay the foundation for the Star Wars: The Old Republic story. This leads us to the story told in the Timeline update, which is now available to watch over on the the official site for Star Wars: The Old Republic!
