The SWTOR-RP Wiki houses countless articles created by our members. People's creative abilities are put to the test in order to convey the ideas brewing in their minds of their characters, organisations, guilds, lore, and starships. Each month, the team at SWTOR-RP peruses through the wiki entries in order to select an article of the month. Last month, The Chroma Incident basked in the spotlight. However, for the month of May, the team has selected an article which possibly holds the most detail seen so far in a SWTOR-RP Wiki entry: The Surely.
Created by SWTOR-RP member KyoTe, The Surely is a starship which was manufactured at a retired shipyard prior to the events dubbed as the Rise of Revan. A light freighter with a maximum speed of 1120 km/h, The Surely has been heavily modified both inside and out.
The Wiki entry for The Surely consists of extensive detail of the starship. You'll find information about its hyperdrive rating, power plant, avionics,a breakdown of each section its interior, plus much more. KyoTe has clearly dedicated a tremendous amount of time and effort to muster up such a detailed article.
Head on over to the entry page for The Surely and check it out for yourself.

The Star Wars story is full of a diverse range of characters. Some are magical and heroic, whilst others are pure evil. Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia are three of the most iconic heroic characters throughout the entire span of the Star Wars story, whereas Darth Sidious and Darth Vader make up the devilish duo. However, there are many more characters that may not be as well known, but could be said to have accomplished feats far greater than those from the original trilogy.
In today's Force Reflection, we'd like you to think about who your favourite character is from the entirety of Star Wars, and tell us who you would like to be or take over for 24 hours. If you could live the life of one of the many characters, we'd like to know who that is and why. Would you take on filling the shoes of one of the iconic and more well-known characters such as Obi-Wan or Yoda? Or are you going to dig deeper into the Expanded Universe and take on the life of someone entirely different? What would you do in your 24 hours? Post your thoughts into the comments.

There have been many prestigious and dignified Generals who have served in the Republic Military over the years throughout Star Wars history. The Jedi Exile served as a General in the Republic Military – working under the infamous Revan – during the Mandalorian Crusade that took place during the era of Knights of the Old Republic. In the same era, General Vaklu served under Queen Talia on war-ridden Onderon, whilst Garm Bel Iblis served the New Republic as a General following the events of the Galactic Civil War. However, the most heroic of them all was – drum roll please – a character who fell into the role through clumsiness turned luck. His ears were as floppy as his form in combat, and his speech as incomprehensible as the reason for his existence. Yes, we're talking about Jar Jar Binks; the ultimate General!
All jokes aside, no General throughout history has been described as being more "ruthless and uncompromising" than General Garza. Her relentless nature earned her four of the most distinguished awards offered to members of the Republic Military, consisting of the Medal of Valor, Silver Crescent, Mark of Dedication, and Chancellor's Service Medal. Furthermore, to help combat the Sith's all-out assault on the Republic following the events depicted in the Return cinematic trailer, General Garza was behind the creation of the Republic Special Forces group, consisting of the army's most elite soldiers, including Harron Tavus who has been featured on the site. Eventually, the Treaty of Coruscant was signed by the Republic and the Sith Empire, however allegedly, that did not deter Garza from pressing the attack. She was said to have ordered a number of covert strikes on the Empire's garrisons and housings throughout known space.
During her time in the military, Garza is said to have married and divorced three times. It appears as if her fierce and forceful personality wasn't just a feat that she reserved for the military. Despite what some people may describe as her "shortcomings," her military tactics and strategies were unmatched during her time. Watch out for Garza when The Old Republic launches, which we now know will release even earlier for early access candidates. Viva La Republic!

With BioWare's Star Wars, the Old Republic getting closer to release, it just further heightens the excitement around the release of the Revan novel, written by Drew Karpysyhn. Most will know Drew for his past novels, S tar Wars: Darth Bane: Path of Destruction, Star Wars: Darth Bane: Rule of Two, and Star Wars: Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil. He also has written the best selling Mass Effect novels. This book is set in the Old Republic era, and Revan is a character that's probably rather familiar to anyone that has played BioWare's Knights of the Old Republic game series. When I first heard of the book coming out, I was pleased to see characters like Revan and Bastila once more. That is a story that I always found rather interesting from Revan's past fall to the dark side as well as his redemption. Bastila and his marriage and other things are touched upon within this book. The book opens with Revan, who is known as both the savior to the Jedi Order and the Republic, as well as the man that turned to the dark side and tried to conquer the very same Republic that he had once sworn to protect. In the wake of his actions to help defeat the Mandalorians' attempt to take over the Republic, he has become a quiet man who keeps out of the public eye and spends time with his wife, Bastila. Bastila, also a jedi, is in love with her husband, even as Revan is once more plagued by dreams of his past and a planet covered in storms. I was intrigued to learn more details about Revan's past, which actually
offered more insight to me about the effect of the dark side upon him
and his motivations. As a hero, Revan is definitely not perfect and has
his share of flaws, but this is probably what draws me most to the
character.

The fate of Revan, dubbed as the prodigal knight in Knights of the Old Republic, is unknown. At the conclusion of the events in the game where Darth Malak was killed and the Star Forge destroyed by the Republic, Revan ventured off into the Unknown Regions, leaving behind not even the slightest of bread crumbs for others to follow. What was it that Revan sought out? Was there an evil not to be reckoned with that Revan sensed deep within the far reaches of space? What happened to his closest friends and companions that aided him through thick and thin? All these questions and more were left unanswered, until now! Well... not now, exactly. But soon.
Drew Karpyshyn --Lead Writer at BioWare -- will reveal all the details about Revan in his novel, named after the character himself. The novel will follow on from the end of the Knights of the Old Republic, revealing Revan's true fate. The release date is set for November 15th, but if you cannot wait until then, be sure to check out BioWare's Friday Update which provides fans with the third and eleventh chapters from the novel. If you haven't pre-ordered the novel, check out the retailers provided by BioWare in their news article. Revan may just keep you entertained with your TOR appetite slightly satisfied until the game itself is released on December 20th.

Throughout the entire history of the Star Wars saga, the dark side has a
notorious legacy of seduction, corruption and death. Indeed, it has
been underlying the majority of conflicts in Star Wars, striking from
behind the shadows or waging all-out-war in the open. While some of
those seduced by the wiles of the dark side have exposed themselves
towards it with noble intentions, such as the wayward Jedi Ulic
Qel-Droma, who initially attempted to destroy the dark side from within,
intentions that Jedi Luke Skywalker mirrored in an effort to finally
destroy the Emperor and Dark Lord of the Sith, Palpatine.
One of the greatest Dark Jedi, Freedon Nadd, is attributed the quote:
"Once you accept it, the dark side is with you forever." Numerous cases
seem to suggest just this: Nadd himself was a prodigious Jedi who sought
power. Nadd in turn influenced Qel-Droma and Exar Kun, both previously
notable Jedi of their time, causing them to turn to the side of the
Sith. Later, two Jedi, Revan and Malak, while initially celebrated war
heroes, would become two of the most brutal Sith Lords in the history of
the Sith. Others, such as Darth Bane, who formulated the Rule of Two,
and Palpatine, have displayed an outright affiliation to the dark
side, without hope for redemption.
The Jedi believe differently, having formulated a thesis called The Four Stages of the Dark Side, which details the various stages of the dark side, one of which is redemption.
If one of the greatest Dark Jedi of all time stated that it is
inescapable, how could anyone hope to be redeemed? And yet, examples
like Darth Vader, all fearsome dark side warriors, have proven
otherwise, being ultimately redeemed by their fellows.
So, is the dark side as insidious and fatal as numerous have described
it, despite the various cases of redemption on record? Would your own
character believe in the certain fatality of the dark side?

Did you ever wonder what fate Revan and the Jedi Exile succumbed to following the events of the Knights of the Old Republic series? It was announced some time ago that all would be revealed in Drew Karpyshyn's upcoming novel, Revan. However, someone took it upon themselves to post some very revealing information about the novel and it's characters on the official forums, shunning Drew for his decisions in writing. Be warned that there may be some serious spoilers about the novel. Drew's post in response to the thread has been added below. Though he doesn't reveal anything about the content of the novel in his post, if you decide to go hunting for the reason of all the complaints, you are going to come across some revealing information about Revan and the Exile.
In other news, the Weekly Dev Tracker also contains some information about location-specific server restrictions, the reason for ability cooldowns, as well as an extensive post by Georg Zoeller about the philosophy of class design for The Old Republic. Head on below to view the happenings on the dev tracker over the last week.

We all have enemies. Life would be kind of boring if it wasn't for a little unhealthy competition, right? Our enemies take the form of people who are awfully jealous of us but could never admit it. Because they're incapable of ever achieving your level of success or happiness, they try to lower you to their bottomless pit of self-loathing and disgust. Call is basic psychology. On the other hand, perhaps your enemy is someone who beats you at every turn, being one step ahead of you every time. Your enemies could be those close to you, without you even realising. In most cases, however, your enemies are pretty apparent, as they make your life a living hell.
Today's Force Reflection is another character building exercise, something which we like to do often. It is no doubt that our characters would have enemies, whether it be someone from their past, or a current adversary who causes your character much grief. Let us know in the comments section who your character's greatest enemy is, whether it be an individual, an organisation, or an entire faction. We don't like to be haters here at SWTOR-RP, but lets be real; this is Star Wars, and as roleplayers, we thrive for conflict.

Our stories define us. The journeys we've endured and the challenges we've faced make us who we are. It is the details in these stories, journeys and challenges that make for a great read, whether it be in a novel, in a comic book, or on the big screen. As roleplayers, stories are the centre of our creations and experiences. In The Old Republic, it is one thing that we'll never be short of. The story for the game is huge, and for that reason, novels and comic series relating to the game have been birthed. There is a large story to not only fill with life and vivid scenery, but there is much to also clarify, hence the reason for comics preceding the timeline of the game, including Threat of Peace, and Blood of the Empire, as well as the novels Deceived and Revan. We then have the latest comic, The Lost Suns, which ties in at the same time the game takes place.
Alexander Freed, Senior Writer at BioWare, has posted a developer blog as part of a Friday Update, where he discusses the tie-in editions to The Old Republic, and what rules need to be considered before giving such projects life. He makes a number of very valid points, some of which as roleplayers, we should pay close attention to. Consider these questions before writing a story for The Old Republic:
"What does this story contribute to mythology of The Old Republic? What does a reader get from this story that changes the way he or she experiences the game? Does it give the reader a new perspective on a character? Does it explain a mystery that isn’t resolved in the game? Does it explore the setting and the timeline in new depth?"
Alexander's blog does more than talk about the ins and outs of creating tie-in novels and comics; it provides roleplayers with handy information for creating mind-blowing stories that'll leave readers and fellow roleplayers wanting more. It is a must read for any roleplayer, no matter how much writing experience you may have. Be sure to view the full blog here.

Its time to play a game of favourites. Sometimes favouritism is not a wise activity as it can often offend, but not in this case. The only possible victims of offence would be the game developers of arguably the two best Star Wars games to date -- Knights of the Old Republic I and II. BioWare, the same developers of The Old Republic, are responsible for the first edition to the game, whilst Obsidian Entertainment developed the sequel, dubbed The Sith Lords.
KOTOR I follows the story of Revan, the Prodigal Knight who started off as an evil Sith Lord, eventually saving the Republic from his previous evil offsider, Darth Malak. During the epic story, we meet a number of diverse and interesting characters, including Bastila Shan, the predecessor of the Grand Master of the Jedi Order during the era of The Old Republic, Satele Shan. In KOTOR II, we follow the story of the Jedi Exile who also saves the Republic from a greater evil. For those who have played both editions of the game, here is today's Force Reflection: Which do you like better? KOTOR I or II? Why? Post your answer in the comments section.
