Crisis in the Outer Rim! The Advozse Hegemony is on the warpath, attacking and devastating several worlds in the far regions. Reports from the region are still coming in, but it seems that the Advozse were using a Republic super-weapon as the spearhead of their attacks. The Advozse are a humanoid race, known for their pale skin, and large central horn, as well as xenophobic tendencies. Republic envoys in the past have failed to engage them in any meaningful negotiations.
Now they've managed to steal a weapon from our military and take it on a planet crushing rampage before they were finally stopped. The Senate is demanding answers from the military, but it's not yet clear how this came to pass. How did they manage to get a hold of a battlestation that wasn't even supposed to exist? The people are demanding answers. It's also unclear just how the station was eventually destroyed. Both governments have claimed responsibility for the Advozse's demise.
For now, the crisis is over. The Advozse's Supreme Warleader has offered his life, and their forces are withdrawing from the worlds that they tried to conquer. While the damage caused in this short time was terrible, the Senate has already dispatched aid ships to the affected worlds to help them rebuild. Only time will tell just how bad the damage truly is; body counts from this massive asteroid hurling weapon are still being tallied.
My fellow citizens, it's time we demand accountability from our military and our leaders. Someone must be held responsible for this mistake. We made this mistake before, trusting our safety to the Jedi, now we put too much faith in technological marvels. The strength and safety of the Republic come from our men and women at arms; not the Force, and not giant battlestations. Remember that as you head to the polls later this year for the elections, because if the Empire gets its way, you won't be able to soon.

In a monumental and normally unseen rate of change, the formerly rundown "heart" of the galaxy is suddenly becoming the respectable planet it was before the Great Galactic War. Plagued by corruption, crime, hunger, and the rampant fires that still burn from the Sacking of Coruscant, it almost seemed like an impossible task to turn the world that was sliding into a pit of Rancor filth back into the prosperous center of trade it once was. While planets like Ord Mantell and Alderaan still suffer from internal problems, the changes taking place on Coruscant will pave the way to a galaxy strong in democracy and purity of government. These changes will also put fear back into the Empire, their border skirmishes and strong-arming will not last long against the combined focus of the Galactic Republic. Several cases of corrupt Senators have come to light, many admitting to working with criminal elements for voting purposes or being exposed by good-willed citizens who love democracy! Never before have so many government officials resigned than those in the past and coming months due to the fear of being forced out of office or arrested due to their own twisted hunger for power.
Only so much as a year ago, Coruscant seemed unbearably close to its breaking point – the point where billions of refugees and other civilian lives would be cut down in an ever-growing tension that tore the lower levels apart at the seams. Criminal gangs controlled several districts, as well as violent paramilitary groups, Cthon, hunger, and more led to an inflow of complaints, and deaths, which the Senate couldn't ignore any longer.

The Star Wars saga has had an interesting cast of characters often working with those whose personal beliefs are scarcely different than the other party in spite of a mutual goal. Jedi have acted as commanders in The Old Republic to troopers who were openly distrustful or skeptical of the mystical space monks and their abilities in combat. Sith and Imperials, as well, often work together in tentative partnership, the latter party usually afraid of the awesome power of a Sith Lord. As our characters move through the relived aggression between Republic and Empire, many characters who have never worked with the military will now have to do so. Flighty Smugglers or over-aggressive Bounty Hunters may have to operate with those of strict authority and firmly held governmental beliefs, often along with Force users who are just the 'odd one out' as any civilian is. This Reporter's question is this: Will your character work with the military? Be they civilian, ex-military, Sith, or Jedi, there is always the chance that the armed forces may need your character's skill. Will they lend their aid begrudgingly and follow orders or press the issue and become a leader amongst those below their social station? Tell us in the comments!

One of the biggest decisions a player has to make in an MMO is which side to support. In most games, we have two opposing factions -- the "goodies" and "baddies." MMOs usually give you the option, with Star Wars Galaxies a fine example, offering players the opportunity to play as a member of the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire. Single player games sometimes rob players of that choice, however BioWare make no mistake in their upcoming game, The Old Republic, granting players with the ultimate choice of supporting the two major factions from the game's era. In this edition of Force Reflection, the question is simple. Which faction are you going to join? The Galactic Republic, or the Sith Empire? Classes have already been covered in a previous Force Reflection, so all we're interested in is your reasoning for choosing either side. It could simply be that you prefer to channel your anger rather than acting in a state of serenity, or it could be much deeper than that. Let us know why you prefer either faction in the comments section.

I was there on Coruscant when the rubble began to fall. I watched the skies fill with clouds of smoke and the shapes of Imperial starships. It wasn't a pretty sight, and soon following the event dubbed as the Sacking of Coruscant, a peace treaty was signed between the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire. As days and months passed, the Republic began their planet-wide rejuvination efforts, but it wasn't without its fair share of obstacles. Riots began to fill the streets, and we soon saw the birth of a criminal organisation whose sole mission was to take advantage of the weak. The organisation I speak of is the Black Sun.
Led by an unknown gangster, the Black Sun has swarmed the lower-city neighbourhoods of Coruscant. Innocent beings are robbed and assaulted on a day-to-day basis, and when all their belongings have been taken from them, they are shot dead and left to rot on the streets. Their criminal behaviour extends to spice and weapon trafficking, and their business has begun stretching beyond the upper atmosphere of Coruscant. Reports indicate that the Black Sun is now selling illicit items to gangsters and Hutts on many different star systems.
The Justicar Brigade and Republic officials have attempted to intervene on the Black Sun's dealings, however their influence has stretched out far beyond the Brigade's reach and abilities. Will these criminals ever be stopped? Readers of this Central Broadcasting News Service, head the warnings in this column and stay clear of the lower-cities of Coruscant. You just never know when members of the Black Sun will pop around the corner with you as their next victim.

Without a doubt, the Sith Empire is the most secretive of the two galactic powers present in The Old Republic, certainly more so than its counterpart, the Galactic Republic. This is most evident with the establishment of the Imperial Intelligence agency and the deployment of its various agents around the galaxy, keeping tabs on its enemies and allies alike. While the Imperial Intelligence is shrouded in secrets and shadow, there is one man known to be a prevalent figure within Intelligence. But even still, the man known as Keeper is still a mystery. The only things known about Keeper is his codename and his secrecy. Most of his past and his true identity are unknown. But it is known that Keeper is the ultimate spymaster within the Empire, and the head of the Operations Division within Imperial Intelligence. He had knowledge of, and approved of, every infiltration into enemy territory, every agent deployed by Intelligence, and every execution of any enemies to the state. Keeper was reputed to be merciless as well as ruthless, easily approving executions of both enemies of the state and Intelligence agents he deemed weak or inefficient. Knowing he could be easily replaced if he failed, Keeper knew when to obey orders and when to seize the initiative for himself.

Each faction within the Star Wars universe has its greatest weapon. This weapon may be in the form of an individual, a group of people, a structure, or a spiritual entity of sorts. Over the many eras throughout Star Wars history, we've seen super-weapons came and go. During the Galactic Civil War era, the Empire had its Death Star – capable of destroying entire planets. Some may even go as far to say that Darth Vader was the Empire's greatest weapon during his reign as the Emperor's right hand man. For the Alliance to Restore the Republic? It wasn't something as destructible as the Death Star, but it was a mere individual whose presence changed the entire tide of a battle. That man was Luke Skywalker.
In The Old Republic, we again see the clash of two super-factions; the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. Though a peace treaty has been signed between the two parties, a war is still on the brink of eruption. And when that does happen, what does each side have to use that may gain them the upper hand? Let's forget the Republic for a moment (much to my dismay), as this is Empire week! What do you think is the Empire's greatest weapon against the Republic? That is today's Empire-themed Force Reflection. Does the burden of carrying the Empire in war fall upon one person's shoulders? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section.

For a species who's society and culture is perceived as one of beauty, Twi'leks have been torn apart by their own ideals and ways of life. Yes, Twi'leks are a beautiful species. Many of their kind assume the roles of nobility and entertainers across the known galaxy. However, their society is torn by a battle of the sexes, with Ryloth's male-dominant culture causing a rift between themselves and their female counterparts who have taken it upon themselves to pursue freedom from a slave-ridden lifestyle. This pursuit of liberty has taken a turn for the worse with large numbers of members from different Twi'lek communities across Ryloth having to relocate onto a brand new world. Led by a former Twi'lek Matriarch, Twi'lek pilgrims underwent a long two-decade search for a new place to call home. After many encounters with Twi'leks who opposed the pilgrims' views, they have finally relocated from Ryloth to the Jedi-occupied world of Tython. The relocation has been viewed as coincidence, but the former Matriarch believes it to be an act of destiny. However, has destiny finally brought peace to the Twi'lek pilgrims in their Kalikori Village on Tython? I will reveal the details and the persona behind the pilgrim movement in this Central Broadcasting News Service report.

There have been many prestigious and dignified Generals who have served in the Republic Military over the years throughout Star Wars history. The Jedi Exile served as a General in the Republic Military – working under the infamous Revan – during the Mandalorian Crusade that took place during the era of Knights of the Old Republic. In the same era, General Vaklu served under Queen Talia on war-ridden Onderon, whilst Garm Bel Iblis served the New Republic as a General following the events of the Galactic Civil War. However, the most heroic of them all was – drum roll please – a character who fell into the role through clumsiness turned luck. His ears were as floppy as his form in combat, and his speech as incomprehensible as the reason for his existence. Yes, we're talking about Jar Jar Binks; the ultimate General!
All jokes aside, no General throughout history has been described as being more "ruthless and uncompromising" than General Garza. Her relentless nature earned her four of the most distinguished awards offered to members of the Republic Military, consisting of the Medal of Valor, Silver Crescent, Mark of Dedication, and Chancellor's Service Medal. Furthermore, to help combat the Sith's all-out assault on the Republic following the events depicted in the Return cinematic trailer, General Garza was behind the creation of the Republic Special Forces group, consisting of the army's most elite soldiers, including Harron Tavus who has been featured on the site. Eventually, the Treaty of Coruscant was signed by the Republic and the Sith Empire, however allegedly, that did not deter Garza from pressing the attack. She was said to have ordered a number of covert strikes on the Empire's garrisons and housings throughout known space.
During her time in the military, Garza is said to have married and divorced three times. It appears as if her fierce and forceful personality wasn't just a feat that she reserved for the military. Despite what some people may describe as her "shortcomings," her military tactics and strategies were unmatched during her time. Watch out for Garza when The Old Republic launches, which we now know will release even earlier for early access candidates. Viva La Republic!

The Galactic Republic is comprised of numerous systems, each represented in the Galactic Senate. Because of cultural, economical, or even religious differences however, the senators don't always agree eye-to-eye, often leaving important policies bound up in red tape. Democracy may have its merits, but one doesn't need to look far to see that corruption thrives even in the heart of the Galactic City, and it isn't hard to think that maybe the politicians just aren't doing what they were elected to do.
Meanwhile the Empire has displayed the efficiency of authority through its Moffs and Governors, bringing swift and decisive action and establishing the rule of law on conquered worlds. It may seem oppressive, and that whole bit about the Sith hierarchy may muddy things up for those not trained in the Force, but there's no harm in allowing your blue-sided character to think "what if?"
Does your character believe in democracy? Does he or she turn a blind eye to the shortcomings of the Republic, or do they actively pursue change? Do they occassionally look at the Empire and wonder if they're fighting for the wrong side? Tell us in today's Force Reflection!
