The Old Republic Roleplay|Site Info

The Sith Empire of The Old Republic is one of various extremes. Frequently in literature, films and video games have we seen the upper classes of the Empire hurling their power around like a medieval flail and the lowest of the lower classes cowering like children as they're bludgeoned for amusement, work, or for dark sorcery and twisted science.

Imperial characters may or may not fall into the upper or lower classes, instead ending up somewhere in between. The majority, however, will lie somewhere in between the evil Grand Moff and Sith warlords and the lowly slave caste of the glittering Emperor's political vision. That situation begs a question to be asked: Is there room in this grandiose picture of power play and intrigue for an average individual?

Once in-game, you'll see average Imperials all the time. Commandos in armor and helmets that were either conscripted or volunteered to fight for the Empire against its enemies. Civilians attempting to make a living off of their own businesses and even dancers just trying to make an honest living. They're nowhere near as pathetic as a slave nor as strong as a Sith lord, merely standing somewhere in between.

So, truthfully, is there room for the common man? Will you role-play an Imperial that lies somewhere between the two extremes? How will you deal with situations where the Sith are attempting to push you around or you have to interact with a slave? Tell us in the comments!

Star Wars: The Old Republic has hit its early access stage. We're only five days from launch, and players are beginning to creep onto the different roleplaying servers to call them their new virtual home away from home. Three years of waiting has never paid off so well, right? As we continue to sail through the game during early access, we begin to familiarise ourselves with the planets and their environments. Each planet has its own feel, design, and texture. Furthermore, each planet has some form of structure, whether it be a thriving metropolis, a Temple hidden in the woods, or a barren pit surrounded by waste.

Imperial characters have many places to call home. However, which planet or structure they call home is totally dependant on the character's lifestyle and story. Dromund Kaas offers solitude to members of the Sith Empire as the centre of all things Imperial. Nar Shaddaa could be a criminal's homestead, whilst Korriban offers a warm and dusty feel if that's what floats your boat. During Empire week here at SWTOR-RP, we've been focusing on some of the issues surrounding Imperial characters. We've made it clear that Sith and Imperials are seen separately, despite them marching under the same banner. And as we separate the two parties, we'd like to focus on which planet your Imperial character considers to be their true home in The Old Republic. Let us know where your characters will be housed and why in the comments section.

The Sith Empire might have such fancy words as "Sith" and "Empire" in the name, but don't let that fool you; the two don't necessarily go hand-in-hand. Although collectively known as the Sith Empire, a contingent of its citizens (particularly the kind that don't get to call themselves Sith) argue that the only thing making it a "Sith" Empire is the fact that the Sith are the ones in power. After all, the majority of the Empire's population is made up of non-force sensitives. In fact, some even harbour desires of removing the Sith from power.

We have already seen this play out, however. Following the death of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, the Galactic Empire fractured amongst itself. Moffs and other Imperial officers declared themselves warlords, exercising power over various sectors and fighting to claim the remnants of the Empire as their own. Without the immense presence and power of the Sith, would we see a similar fissure in this Empire as well?

Are the Sith necessary to the Empire's success? Does your character want to see them ousted? What would your character do if the common man ever became the ruling power? Let us know in the comments!

Each faction within the Star Wars universe has its greatest weapon. This weapon may be in the form of an individual, a group of people, a structure, or a spiritual entity of sorts. Over the many eras throughout Star Wars history, we've seen super-weapons came and go. During the Galactic Civil War era, the Empire had its Death Star – capable of destroying entire planets. Some may even go as far to say that Darth Vader was the Empire's greatest weapon during his reign as the Emperor's right hand man. For the Alliance to Restore the Republic? It wasn't something as destructible as the Death Star, but it was a mere individual whose presence changed the entire tide of a battle. That man was Luke Skywalker

In The Old Republic, we again see the clash of two super-factions; the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. Though a peace treaty has been signed between the two parties, a war is still on the brink of eruption. And when that does happen, what does each side have to use that may gain them the upper hand? Let's forget the Republic for a moment (much to my dismay), as this is Empire week! What do you think is the Empire's greatest weapon against the Republic? That is today's Empire-themed Force Reflection. Does the burden of carrying the Empire in war fall upon one person's shoulders? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section.

Slavery no matter where it appears is always a topic of controversy. In the Sith Empire, however, slavery is the law and quite common. Whether you start on Korriban or Hutta, you will see people enslaved all around you. The Dromund Kaas planet storyline also features slaves in many of its quests. Hell, Sith Inquisitors even start off the game as slaves and boy do the NPCs never let you forget it.

Many people feel strongly about slavery due to the real world connotations. Wars have been fought over it, many languished in chains and in parts of the world slavery exists even in the modern era. For some it can be a painful topic, others a powerful tool in telling the story of a character. For better or worse, BioWare has chosen to make it a part of The Old Republic. In the Sith Empire, it is inescapable.

To kick off Empire Week, we're asking you how your character feels about slavery? Does your mighty Pureblood look down on the lesser races toiling away? Maybe your Inquisitor has a soft spot for those in a position he narrowly managed to escape? Whatever their reasons, there are bound to be characters on both sides of the issue. Let us know what you think, and we promise not to report it to Imperial Intelligence.
