Everybody loves the community Q&A, especially since the BioWare staff actually takes their time to poke us in the brain with their delicious tidbits of vague information that lead all Old Republic fans to salivate at the future of SWTOR. This week's community Q&A covers questions ranging from the future of the Rakghoul plague events to the planned Game Update 1.3. Character Transfers are a hot button issue which Senior Producer Dallas Dickinson shed a little light on: low population servers will have specific character transfers to or from another server to help the population be more evenly balanced. Damion Schubert, Principal Lead Systems Designer, also teases that achievements and codex entry collection will serve a purpose in the future. The biggest tasteful tease of terrific information is that there will be new species this year! A true fascinating jump considering how it's usually a feature fully priced expansion packs throw out, but Daniel Erickson, the Lead Game Designer, can be quoted with saying "... you can expect the roster of playable species to expand... this year."
With this booming piece of information, let's see what you—the people—have to say! Throw out what you think in the comments section!

Normally I'm not one to gush over the Q&A sessions that BioWare put on every now and then. Since they farm questions from the forums as a whole, roleplay questions often get ignored. This one, however, had some interesting topics that interests us as RPers. I'll give you the basic rundown of what the BioWare community team had to say for us. If you want to see the entire article, you can go ahead and read it here. Also of interest is another piece released yesterday on UI updates and the global cooldown changes.
First off is Legacy. Maddeningly vague as always, the tidbit about having benefits for old characters as well is interesting. For those of you who love PvP but hate Huttball, take heart because we can now confirm that the new warzone in Game Update 1.2 will be same faction enabled. The big news for RPers is Daniel Erickson's response on social gear. He hints that 1.2 will introduce social gear for medium and heavy armors, with more changes to come soon after! That's big news, and I can't wait to see what they do. Server transfers are also something they're considering. Could be useful if you're not happy with your current server's group.
Stephen Reid also chimes in on the match-color-to-chestplate function from beta, now called hue-to-chest, which will be making a return in 1.2 after overwhelming community demand when it was removed at the end of beta. Remember that your feedback is being listened to, and that by working together we can make sure that our voices get heard. If you want to know the rest of the responses, continue reading after the break and see what's in store for The Old Republic!

Thanks to the Community Team at BioWare, we have a copy of The Art and Making of Star Wars: The Old Republic by Frank Parisi and Daniel Erickson. This special copy of the $40US book has been signed by author and SWTOR Lead Writer Daniel Erickson, and SWTOR-RP will give it away to one member of this site.
But we aren't going to just give it away at random. This site represents some of the best roleplayers the MMO community has to offer, and we want you to flaunt it. Show us what you've got! "How can we flaunt our roleplay?" you might ask. Well, that depends on what you're good at. There are multiple ways to enter, but the biggest requirement is that we want to know your character. If you're an artist, you can give us a visual representation of your character. If you are a writer, then a story may be your thing. Creativity and audience engagement is key.
Jump past the break for the details.

In the newest installment of the Choose Your Side series of videos, the Republic Trooper and Sith Inquisitor are sized up by members of the BioWare team. Writer Charles Boyd and Combat Designer Cameron Winston favor the big guns, while the more subtle Inquisitor is championed by Writing Director Daniel Erickson and Combat Designer Austin Peckenpaugh. Watch the video below and see for yourself as they discuss their favorite elements of each class and the hows and whys of who would win in a fight between Commander Cody and Darth Maul.
There's certainly some juicy tidbits in there for roleplayers as well, as the trooper is described as a "shoot first, ask questions later" sort of character who carries the weight of responsibility on his shoulders. Meanwhile the inquisitor is "always thinking, always calculating," and can dish out enough lightning to power the entirety of Coruscant. Whether you plan on playing a one-man Michael Bay film or plotting elaborate schemes in the hopes of hearing your favorite Mon Calamari catchphrase, the clips shown should help make the wait just a little less bearable.
While the trooper in this installment appears to be a commando, the general theme of guns and ammo should suit anyone looking to take up a role in the Republic Military. Fans of the sorcerer may find themselves disappointed however, as this inquisitor seems to have taken the route of stealth and the double-bladed lightsaber. Still, there's plenty of lightning to go around and the developers spend a good deal of time discussing the importance (or unimportance!) of range between the two classes.
Take a look at the video and let us know where you're placing your bets in the comments below! BioWare is also encouraging players to shout out their favorites over Twitter with either the #CYSInquisitor or #CYSTrooper hashtags.

All The Galaxy's A Stage,  Ask A Jedi,  Author: Ganden,  BioWare,  Daniel Erickson,  EA,  Electronic Arts,  Jedi,  Jedi Code,  LucasArts,  Roleplay,  Sa Chi,  Star Wars,  Star Wars The Old Republic,  SWTOR,  SWTOR-RP,  The Old Republic,  TOR
The philosophical debate of the Jedi and their ways based on morality is a never ending one. The views on how the Jedi should interpret the Force vary, as do the views about the Jedi Code. The code has varied throughout the history of Star Wars, however in the era of The Old Republic, it reads as follows:
There is no emotion; there is peace. There is no ignorance; there is knowledge. There is no passion; there is serenity. There is no death; there is the Force.
The fourth line of the Jedi code, consisting of the words, "There is no chaos; there is harmony," is missing from this version. For reasons unknown, perhaps something that requires some clarification from Daniel Erickson himself, that particular line does not exist during the era of The Old Republic. However, the first line of the Jedi Code itself draws much debate and speculation as to it's meaning and interpretation. Should Jedi ignore emotion altogether? Is emotion something the Jedi should not feel? Rather, it is much to the contrary.
All The Galaxy's A Stage -- a weekly column at Ask A Jedi -- focuses on the very topic of the Jedi Code. Sa Chi, the column's author, make's reference to the point of view of his character for The Old Republic, sharing his interpretation of the Jedi Code and the rules that follow. Romance and relationships are mentioned, both of which are, much like anything else relating to the Jedi, topics of endless debate. Head on over to Ask A Jedi to view the latest edition of All The Galaxy's A Stage and feel free to share your views on the topic. Do you believe the Jedi are capable of romance without causing a stir in their abilities to make rational decisions? What is your interpretation of the Jedi Code and it's first line? Share your thoughts in the comments section.

A lot of information about The Old Republic has come out over the past week at New York Comic-Con. DarthHater has done an excellent job of compiling the various panels for us to pour over. Here at SWTOR-RP, we've taken the liberty of boiling it down to the crucial issues and topics that affect a roleplayer. There is quite a list to talk about so settle in. Let us know what you think at the end!
First up, The Old Republic now has social hubs. The Republic and Imperial fleets will serve as part social hub, part Flashpoint launch area, and part Collector's Edition VIP area. There will also be all sorts of vendors available on the stations. I guess it could be compared to Mos Eisley in Star Wars Galaxies, or Goldshire in World of Warcraft, just with all sorts of additional goodies. Read on, there's plenty more to go!

Welcome to another edition of SWTOR-RP's Weekly Dev Tracker Report. It seems that whilst beta testing continues, we'll never see the end of questions and demands of the developers in relation to beta invites. However, we're going to skip over all that mumbo-jumbo and focus on the good stuff. Over the previous week, there have been a few goodies about in-game mechanics, as well as some news for roleplayers. Followers of our site will have seen a previous article covering the announcement of an PvP-RP server. You'll find some information about that below. Additionally, there is also some information about force pushing enemies in-game and how the environment can add some flavour to the ability, as well as details about male companions, flashpoints, and BioWare's timeline entries. Check out all the noteworthy developer responses below.

Welcome to SWTOR-RP's Weekly Dev Tracker Report. Following each gaming convention that BioWare decides to reveal it's product at, the official forums go into mayhem with questions and demands from the community for The Old Republic. We get some more information on testing, the latest warzone announcement, and the mother of all issues for roleplayers at the moment -- cross-faction communication. It is an important issue, as any restriction on communication between factions is going to significantly impede on our roleplaying experience. The developers swoop in to clarify misconception, and what a relief. Be sure to view the comments from the developers below, and we'll see you again next week for another tracker report.

Star Wars: The Old Republic hopes to change the face of MMORPGs forever. The game has already broken Electronic Arts' pre-order sales records. With statistics like that, we know what EA is looking forward to: Ka-ching! Thanks to VideoGamers.com, we know that TOR Lead Writer Daniel Erickson said this while looking forward to the game's launch: " I've watched this game grow since before day one and as with any
creative project you pour your heart into, the mix of anticipation and
fear is huge." Understandably, he wants the game to succeed, probably more than any of us do.
Most of us have yet to actually play this game, but game footage abounds from the different conventions SWTOR has attended. It hasn't hurt that the community team for this game has released an update for the game every Friday for nearly three years. With all this information about the game floating around in cyberspace, what is it that you are looking forward to? I know we all roleplay here, so saying "roleplay" doesn't count as an answer. What aspect of the game is most intriguing for you? Why are you going to be in-game on day one?
