The Old Republic Roleplay|Site Info

Picture this: you walk up upon fifty or more spectators and competitors swarming the Promenade for one of the biggest events of the week. There is betting going on and people milling about, the conversations get going, then all of the sudden a flare gun goes off and all your attention is drawn away to the lone person in the middle of the arena. This is it the moment of truth; the crowd grows quiet as the first words are spoken.

"Welcome to the Fight Nights of Nar Shaddaa!"

What started out as the Republic and Empire having separate nights to show off their skills has spawned into a spectacular event of the best of the best. Sponsored by the Jung Ma Jumping Beans host, Akrili has brought the standard of fight nights to an all new high in our universe. The double elimination matches pit one against another to show just who will come out on top and prove to you they have the skills to hold all others off.
Securo Malleus Heh, looks fun.
Akrili Cool write up man real cool thanks.
Haedra Great article! I definitely need to come and check the next event out. Even if there is not a ton of RP going on, this ...

The rancid and the enchanting tauntaun is one of the signature pieces in the Hoth ecosystem. A hardy reptomammal, the tauntaun is perfectly adapted for its glacial and harsh climate. Thick fur and oil secreting skin help shield the creature from the biting winds of Hoth. Equipped with four sets of nostrils – two for when awake and two for when it's asleep – and webbed feet for walking upon ice; it is the epitome of evolutionary success and resilience. This beast is worth examination, which is exactly why the Empire has sent me to do so.

Tauntauns are more than just specimens to be studied, though. Despite their stubbornness and difficulty to domesticate, they are indispensable as transport and pack animals across the ice of Hoth. Where repulsorcrafts are at best questionable and at worst totally impractical, the sure feet of a giant tauntaun is the perfect remedy. They pose no threat other than nipping teeth and spitting, compared to the indigenous Wampa, they are a kind and reasonable beast.

Different species of tauntaun exist on Hoth – most notably are the scaly tauntaun, climbing tauntaun, and the giant tauntaun (also referred to as the common tauntaun). Common tauntaun are most apt to be mounts due to their size and stronger legs, whereas the other varieties are much smaller and usually are too weak to support the average Imperial.

Once you get past their scent and general ill-temper, the tauntaun is an invaluable asset to be used by our Empire.

Glitterstim, giggledust, gunjack... sounds harmless enough? But what is it? A sort of sweet or edible? Far from it. These are all names of various spices that are found in the seedy underbellies across the Empire, traded illegally and smuggled by the vicious and vile. Addictive and deadly, this drug may prove to be one of the Empire's greatest enemies.

But where does it come from? It is mined like ore from the ground, then processed and treated to increase the mind-altering effects it produces. Anything from perceived psychic abilities to horrible and psychosis inducing hallucinations.

Our Empire does what it can to regulate these drugs, banning the harmful and promoting the beneficial. A spice called Avabush is often used as a sedative, helping patients sleep or be put under for procedures. But it can be also used as a truth serum drug, bringing forth the thoughts of the user. It is more than obvious how this can benefit our Empire.

In The Old Republic, many of the choices presented to Republic players are those pertaining to doing your job to the letter or skimping on it for the sake of a greater good. From refusing to shoot a defenseless and dirty Imperial to letting an enemy mastermind go to disarm a bomb threatening to kill a Senator, every BioWare game with a government and her agents has involved tough moral choices involving the concept of sacrifice for immediate benefit.

From the war-ravaged hillsides of Ord Mantell to the frozen plains of Hoth, many choices will be presented to your character during each adventure, often dealing with giving bad people mercy or good people the sharp end of a knife. Every world and every commanding officer will have their own views on what is right, wrong, and an acceptable loss. Will your character be flexible, holding the callous viewpoints of an Imperial Intelligence agent, or will they be stubborn and hold by their viewpoints under threat of death or detriment to the mission at large?

What factors will decide the lengths your character will go to in performing their duty? Will pressure from command, associates, or companions influence the boundaries you've put forward? Tell us in the comments!
Sevra Definitely duty. My ex-military smuggler was all about winning the war, not winning morality or popularity points. Very ...
Sinreiko It'll depend on the situation, but in general duty is what drives Tieran. He most often prefers to look at the big pictu ...
Tharion When playing my character, I try to give them their own personality, but also a bit of my own as well. I know from my ad ...

For a regular soldier with no real outstanding qualities but good instincts, Captain Harron Tavus really did beat the system of Force Sensitives hogging the spotlight. Sure, he didn't have as much trailer screen time as Jace Malcom, nor is he as cool as the name taking and butt-kicking Theron Shan, but he did make a name for himself – one any Trooper will know intimately in The Old Republic.

Not much is known about Harron Tavus' early life, but during the beginnings of the Trooper storyline on Ord Mantell, he informs the player that he was with Havoc squad since he was barely a man. Harron saw nearly three decades of direct conflict, all the way from the Battle of Alderaan, Sacking of Coruscant, and various special forces conflicts in Imperial space by the orders of General Garza. He surely didn't adhere to military doctrine. As seen in Threat of Peace, he had an odd relationship with Satele Shan after he helped rescue her and a flourishing friendship with Jedi Master Orgus Din, even going so far as to help him in diplomatic missions and offensives, like the Sith invasion of the Minos Cluster
Kael Loved this guy in the game, and his tie in to the comics makes him feel like even more of an epic figure for us non-Forc ...
