Question: Alderaan's nobility in roleplay?

Hello,

so basically, what I'd like to ask is that would it be legitimate - not clashing against the canon (or in-game?) lore - to roleplay a noble from Alderaan? I'd aim for a noble from a smaller house - nothing like Organa or Thul.

Also, are there any Alderaanian noble house guilds around? If there are, how are 'em? And if there are not, I'd like to know why - if it's canonically correct to roleplay a noble. And, is there a place/need/demand for a house guild like that (I would even try to run one, maybe)?

Thanks in advance! :)

I believe there were a few nobility houses a while ago, but they mostly died off. Playing as a noble of a smaller house would probably be fine, just don't go forcing your characters will, or trying to in the Sith Empire for example, the character would probably get laughed at.

Is there a place for it? Frankly, I personally am not sure. Depends on the server.

I think that depends on your server if there is any rp going on around it. I know that I've seen some good Alderaanian RP with nobles on the EU server of the Progenitor. However, I have not seen guilds, but various people that have characters with ties on Alderaan and to its nobility. I do agree with Trigger on that it is good to do it responsibly.

Certainly I would not aim to vanquish and dominate other players' characters, no way. What I had in mind is that a couple of nobles could prove to be a nice addition to the roleplay. For example they could:

- play a role of a "questgiver", naturally, to bounty hunters etc.
- serve as mooks in the events (for instance in a group of troopers get a mission in which they're supposed to escort a particular noble from place X to place Y)
- support random roleplay in Alderaan
- clash with other (noble, but not necessary) factions - if not physically, then verbally...

Naturally, I'll ask around in the server (The Progenitor in my case) if anyone is interested in sucha roleplay. If not, I might just do it myself. :d

Thanks for all responses! It's good to see that the idea isn't, at least in theory, stupid. :)

Arthin of House of Vryl, Allied again with House of Organa (Arthin joined Light of Alderaan). Vryl's will in one point turn into small RP guild, but right now I roleplay him as ambitious and scheming rogue noble. There are many minor noble houses of Alderaan in story-lines and quests, so players should first finish Alderaan quests with one character at least to get the flavor of the planet. About the Empire - they have their own noble houses, Second cast under the Sith. There are quests about them on Dromund Kaas - they seems to be much more arrogant than Alderaanians (yeah! Challenge!) but seems to drop to their knees in presence of Sith. So Nobility got it's bounds in SW universe.

I have already finished the main quest on Empire side in Alderaan but I need to do that on the other side too just to gain some perspective before rushing to make a character of a noble origin.

Quite frankly, I don't like Dromund Kaas and especially not its denizens. To me it's not an option to make an Imperial noble as I like slightly more neutral (balancing between the main factions) characters. Then again, I acknowledge that in the presence of Sith, and to certain extent Jedis (or actually anyone pointing a blaster), my character would better kneel unless they want to be beheaded (in the worst case).

Anyhow! Thanks for the reply! It's great to read of someone who already plays a noble in Star Wars universe! :)

Our guild, the Black Thorn, has been running its second major plot chapter revolving around Alderaan Politics, the conflict between the Fictional House Trell and House Vosk. As such, a number of Fully developed NPCs have been made to play the family members of Trell and Vosk.

As such, I have had some time playing an NPC called Lord Juilen Trell. I've found that engaging with other players requires a clever touch - no-one likes being told what to do by some toff, so thats out. The best way to do it is to play a character that doesn't have an overwhelming ego. Be nice, be charitable, and don't order people about. Order their boss about.

Thanks for the advice, TheScythe! I appreciate it and aim to stick to that. I, for one, do not like such characters - bossy ones - either. :d

Sorry for the much-delayed response, I just found this thread. :) I don't know of any guilds actually playing as a House off the top of my head, as it would be a fairly small scale and restrictive thing. I play a character who is head of a House and a few other guildies are nobles or members of other houses, either allied or vassel. I'd love to see a little more Alderaanian RP to dabble in so drop me a message if you do - I'm also Progenitor.
