Crafting Question

It's always difficult to tell what the appearance of a blaster will actually be since you only have the small icon to go by (examining the appearance in the same way as armour doesn't show weapons) but yes from what I can tell the crafted blasters are identical to orange and purple blasters that are available elsewhere on NPC venders.

You could maybe argue that if they're an orange version of a purple blaster it would give you a little more customisation options with the additional barrel slot, which perhaps was the original intent, but since that's getting added back to purple weapons sometime soon even that will be moot.

As far as ship components go, I'll give you that, but several purple T5 ship components are already available as quest and companion rewards, and the rest are almost certainly going to be quest rewards for future quests that are mentioned to be in-coming over the next few months.

Is end-game crafting worthwhile? Like for armor and weaponry? Or can we just buy or earn them from other sources: PVP, vendors, drops, etc.? It seems like if I try crafting armor, well I need higher level armor than I can craft at that level, so it is kind of pointless. So, I feel like leaning more toward Biochem or Slicing, because they are beneficial financially and if I save or get money through those means, I can buy Orange and Purple items easily with far less hassle and when I need them. I think crafting needs to be made more worthwhile for crafters.

Right now, I would say end game crafting isn't worth it.

PVP, raid, and flashpoint armour will have better stats simply because crafted armour only goes up to level 49 barrel/armouring/crystals as where PVP/Raid/flashpoint vendors go up to level 51.

However, to be fair, that will change slightly when the devs allow us to remove barrel/armouring/crystal mods from purple gear.

Though it still all pegs on whether or not crafted gear is visually different - something I am doubting right now, at least in regards to blasters.

I have another newb question.

I noticed that some items I'm trying to RE and get a blue version are not giving me blue schems no matter how many I RE.

For example, I've been trying to RE a vibroknife like 20 times and it keeps giving me back resources only.
Other weapons REd into blue schems after 3-4 RE attempts.

Are some not meant to be turned into blue/purple schems, or do I need to keep REing?

Keep RE'ing them, some I've noticed take just a few tries, others take a bit more.

High-End Crafting is fairly viable, as not everyone PVP's, but wants good gear. Plus, some things you need a crafter to assemble, like the Magenta or White Crystals.

You sort of do. Even Hard Mode BT which is the easiest is very difficult if your group doesn't have purple gear.

You get 51 epic armorings and hilts/barrels from dailies (which are better than even 56 epic armorings/hilt/barrels you get from Champion PvP gear, because it doesn't waste stats on expertise). You can also get level 50 mods/enhancements with Corellian commendations.

You don't need to have full epics before starting HM BT. The reason our groups failed? Because typically we were running with people using 48 green mods or 40 blues (or greens!). I kid you not. You can inspect gear and I've looked at most of the people we've gone with. Most of them have had 10xx-ish of their primary stat... I started running HM BT with about 1200 Willpower at least, and didn't have a single piece of PvP gear.

Crafting definitely helps with getting gear as soon as you hit 50. Through crafting, Corellian commendations, dailies, and high-end Corellian missions, you really shouldn't be without a full set of 50 blues before your first HM, and should have some purple stuff, too. All without PvP.

A full set of 50 blues is really all you need to start HMs. It's the people who walk into them wearing non-50 greens that have been the problem.

What dailies are you referring you? There are several types of dailies. I presume you mean the flashpoint dailies.

No, I'm talking about the level 50 Ilum and Belsavis dailies, which grant Daily Commendations. 8 Daily Commendations buys one epic 51 barrel/hilt/armoring, and you make 8 or 9 a day through just the solo quests, more if you do the heroic dailies.
